Best Christmas Eve ever!

I had a phone call this morning that changed our lives forever.  In a blessed and amazing way!  Madison called.  She thought she had the worst case of the flu in the world.....thought she might honestly be dying.  Andrew called 911.  When she got to the hospital they told her she wasn’t sick at all....she was pregnant.  And in labor.  She had no idea!  She delivered a baby girl at 6:40 a.m. They believe the baby is about 10 weeks early. She weighed 3 pounds 6 oz.  She is a shock and a miracle!   They named her Evelyn Renee.   We are smitten.  And excited.  And over the top happy.  And blown away.  And a bit devastated that they are so far away!   

A flight has been booked.  I can’t wait to meet my new granddaughter.  I am so thankful for her life.  I can’t believe we are grandparents.  What an amazing blessing and the best Christmas gift ever!  

We really enjoyed Christmas Eve mass too!  It has been a most wonderful, blessing filled, amazing day!  

Christmas Eve Eve

We had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner today.  We were a day early, but it worked for everyone and was nice to not have to rush off for church.  It was a great day...we truly enjoyed having time together!  

Well, mostly great.  My nephew had a fall and ended up with a broken arm. Poor little buddy.  

I am thankful that we had this day together though.  Great family, great food, great holiday cheer to start off our Christmas celebrating!  

Christmas luncheon

Today the 1st grade classes hosted a Christmas luncheon.  Saige wanted us to come and eat with her, but when we got there she was sad that Madison wasn’t with us.  Not sure why she thought Madison was coming, but she was disappointed.  We compromised and sent Madison a couple of pictures. 

Jim ended up not being able to go, so he sent in back up.  Cameron has fun reminiscing about his grade school lunch eating days.  

We also found that Ms. Koger is on the naughty list!  

Colin worked in Kansas City today.  He took a couple of pictures because he thought the crane looked cool parked down town.  All I could see was how tight the parking would be in a vehicle that big.  I’m glad it was him driving and not me!  

This evening was a madhouse.  I had to take a defensive driving class. Good news- I can now save $14 a year on my auto insurance (insert eye roll!). Since I had to do that, Mallory was kind enough to cover for me at the RE Christmas party’s cookie decorating station.   The 3 boys went to Manhattan to watch a basketball game.  We didn’t really get home until late and I am still finishing baking for tomorrow’s class parties.  I will be extremely happy when tomorrow is over and done with.  This week is wiping the floor with me.  

Crazy times

From now until the end of December, our lives are turn upside down, hold on tight cause it’s going to be a crazy ride busy.  I always notice that during the busiest times of our lives, the school becomes the most need filled place on the planet.  Needing cookies, ingredients for projects, gifts, canned foods and gloves for the less fortunate.  It seems endless.  Although I don’t mind, my children have a bad habit of waiting until I am home for the night before telling me “oh yea mom I need a....”.  

The little kids did some projects together at school.  It worked out kind of neat that Saige and Harper’s classes were paired up to do gingerbread houses.  Saige was most excited because her class got to eat the leftnover candy, but Harper’s class gets to take home the houses (a good compromise).  Because Harper is her sister she gets both!  

We have been home so infrequently, the cat is starting to feel neglected!

Preston was sworn in as the new president of the Jr high FBLA.   I am very proud of him for running, giving a speech and running a successful campaign. 

And at the end of the day, I know We are being watched over and blessed mightily.  

Basketball banquet night

Quincy had her basketball banquet tonight.  She was given a lot of photos of herself playing.  She really liked that!  She doesn’t get printed photos very often!  

Quincy was named as the “best tackler” of the girl’s basketball team.  A title she is proud to win!   

This was a fun season and a fun night celebrating their successes.
