Yes...

It is possible that we had more basketball games last week!  And it is possible that I took more semi-amazing pictures of Preston playing in those games!  The photos above are from his home game against Prairie View.  He was a disappointed boy when that game was over.  They lost.  But Preston was not upset about that....he legitimately was just disappointed in the way he played.  He spent some time talking to us after the game about how he thought he could have done some stuff better and what he planned to improve.  He got to start in the A game, which was a goal of his for this season.   For what it is worth, yes, his shots didn't fall for him, but both Jim and I were impressed with how he played.  He works hard out there.

Yesterday was the A team tournament at Wabaunsee high school in Alma.  Because of poor Jim's broken water line, boil advisory fiasco at work, he had to help with water samples and some other things, and had to miss this one.   I dropped Preston off to catch his bus, and thought gee I have a ton of time, I'll do my errands on the way.  Every place I needed to go didn't open until 9!   Lesson - it doesn't pay to get up early on a Saturday!   So....with my plans in the toilet, I decided to go on to Alma and get some cheese from the creamery.  I love the Alma Creamery!   Guess what?  The didn't open early either!   With no cell service, I did what anyone would do and explored the town a little bit.  Did you know Alma is the "city of Native Stone"?  Some of the houses and buildings are really amazing!   I  know my kids (and probably Jim) do not appreciate when I point out these old cut stone houses all the time.  I just am fascinated by the amount of work that went into this!  When I was a kid we would some times help dad by walking through his plowed field and moving rocks.  It was a pain.  I can't imagine having to piece them and cut them and place them etc.  I appreciate the amazingness of our forefathers!  The church had 1897 on it!   It is a really good thing I was alone!  ;)

I got done with my amazing self touring in time to watch Preston play!  His team played Wabaunsee and then Seamen.  They lost both games but they played SO MUCH BETTER!   It was fun watching what they are capable of!  Both games I was amazed by Preston's ability to fill gaps, beat people back, and knowledge of where to be.  He made some shots too!  He was much happier this time with himself!

Since Alma isn't far from Manhattan, Colin decided to come over and watch.  As we were watching, Preston's school principal asked Colin if he wanted his ticket for the KSU game that afternoon.  He decided he didn't want to go.  Colin said he already had tickets, but that if Preston wanted to go, he would take him!   Preston definitely wanted to go!  He loves going to games at KSU!  Colin is "not dating" a really nice girl.  She got Preston a shirt and even took pictures for me!

Preston had so much fun!  He loves hanging out with his brothers!   I am glad he got to go!

I know it seems like I have started writing a basketball blog!   It is consuming a rather large amount of our time right now.  I am really trying hard to enjoy it though, because geez these kids are growing up too fast and I am sure these days will be gone before I am ever ready! Plus I love pictures.  Are we ever sorry that we took a lot of pictures?  I'd venture to say no.  I have never been sorry yet!

These photos are from Preston's game against Wellsville.  Wellsville put a beat down on Preston's team.  Sadly, Preston was the high scorer with 4(!) points.   I am always impressed with how Preston gives it his all though.  Never quits playing hard!   (Preston is #2 in white).

The other thing consuming a lot of our time is the crazy goats.  Waiting on them to kid is driving us all crazy!   Sometimes I feel like they are waiting in purpose!

Well - that was one full day!

Quincy had a basketball tournament this weekend at Silver Lake.  She played 2 games yesterday, and 2 games today.  Once we got there today, she legitimately wanted to go home because Mallory sent her pictures of the babies that her goat had!  They are twin boys.  Appear healthy, and thankfully it was 50+ degrees today, so a nice day to be born!

It took all day, but Quincy did get in a little bitty goat hug!  She named the twins Bruce and Bill.  They will be project goats, and she was sad about them being boys because she hates selling!

I think that Quincy actually enjoyed playing today even though she was anxious about getting to see the babies.  She even made her free throw!  It was a good day of basketball. I feel like the girls are improving and having fun too.

When Quincy's games were over, we headed west for the afternoon.  Cameron was selected for KSU honor band. He spent the weekend rehearsing at KSU and had a concert this afternoon.   We had lunch with Colin and a couple of his friends, and then headed over to McCain Auditorium for the concert.  I love this! The bands were so good!  I thought they did amazing jobs preparing and it was awesome!   We had to sit in the rafters, so my photos are really bad quality.   It was still a great experience for him!

After the concert, we rushed back so that Quincy could drool over baby goats, we snarfed down dinner, and ran to model meeting  practice.  I am proud that several kids showed up and are excited about the model meeting.   I am now up watching goats because I believe that Totes McGoats is in active labor.  It is 55 degrees and there are thunder storms off to the east.   I think it is supposed to snow tomorrow. You just gotta love goats' timing, and Kansas weather!

Basketball - all winter long baby!

With Preston playing, Quincy playing, Cameron managing, and me agreeing to drive activities, I am watching a ton of basketball!  Luckily, it is a sport I both enjoy watching and understand the rules so it is not a bad hobby!

Preston played this week at Osawatomie.  I got to drive the team and I enjoyed watching Preston play and his team even had a win!

I'm not sure what is going on in the above photo, but Preston and their coach seem equally worked up about it!
