A couple more.

Quincy had a game this "prevening".  She played really well.   Her team won by 1.  It was a good game.
She is good at hustling. I am proud of her trying hard to learn plays.
Harper's class is getting ready to celebrate 100 days of school.  As her homework this weekend, she was to decorate her 100 day cape.  The school provided the "cape" which I believe was a cut apart plastic table cloth.  We could attach 100 of whatever she wanted to it and send it back.  I was not convinced that thin plastic would hold much if we glued stuff, so we went with stickers.  Harper wanted 100 cat stickers.  Dollar general had owls, cardinals, and foxes.  She ended up with rainbow animals!  She would not let me help.  She spent 2 hours counting and sticking 100 stickers on this.  She loves it!
I love this kid.  She was so serious about having homework and even had Mallory double check her counting. She did perfect!

Kid stuff

Friday night, Cameron's team played against Osage City.  The team once again struggled and didn't come up with a win.  Cameron had some nice assists, a few points and a couple of completely awesome rebounds. He is playing with a lot more confidence, and that makes me happy.
Yesterday was the Baldwin Invitational Tournament. It is a pretty big tournament with a lot of tough wrestling schools.
Colin had a decent day on the mats and came out with a 5th place finish.
He had to wrestle one kid twice.  The first time the kid beat him.  The second time around, Colin had an awesome match and ended up beating the kid by 1.  I love watching him wrestle so tough and come up with a win.  A well deserved win is always fun to see.
I could not resist snapping these photos of Colin with his coach.  Coach Erickson is not only a great coach, but he is also a great person.  We are very blessed that Colin has had him all of these years.  He helps with the younger kid wrestling as well, so Colin has had the privilege of knowing his high school coach and being instructed by him for about 10 years now.  Sometimes you luck out and meet great people through your kids.  That is definitely the case here.
It was a fun, but long day.  SFT placed second as a team.  That is pretty impressive considering how many schools were there.
Jim left Colin's tournament a little early and went to Preston's basketball game.  Jim said Preston had a good game.  After the game, Jim, our 4 younger kids, and Quincy's bff met up with Quincy's basketball team and all went to the KSU women's game together.  They had an amazing time. It also sounded just a little bit wild.

Willy

The 4th grade class always does a wax museum for Grandparent's Day.  They host it on Kansas Day and all the kids have to pick a character from Kansas history to dress up as.  The kid then has a "button" and when you push it they say a little blurb about their character.  Most kids pick Amelia Earnhardt, Russell Stover or some other famous PERSON from Kansas.  And then there is Quincy.   She picked the KSU mascot, Willy the Wildcat.  She wanted a costume.  She wanted to BE the wildcat.  I was at a complete loss.
Luckily, grandma has some mad hippy skills that come in handy from time to time.  She insisted that we could make a mask out of paper mâché.  I agreed to give it a try.  Last weekend, we got to work.  Quincy loved the process.....after all it is messy!
It took about 3 days for it to get dry.
Quincy painted it gray and I did my best to do the detail work.  Luckily for my (lack of) artistic ability, Willy doesn't have much detail!
Willy does have teeth.  Quincy had a perfect solution, and cut apart her vampire teeth from Halloween!   That part makes me giggle.  But one little girl was thrilled with how it turned out.
If Quincy is happy, I am happy!
I heard Grandparent's day was a huge success!

Just a few things

Sometimes I don't notice how much these 2 clowns look alike.  Sunday I went to a parent meeting and when I got home they had both taken a bath but not combed their hair.  They looked identical. It was frightening.
The little girls make a big deal out of "girly girls wear pink" and saying they don't like pink.  I love pink and I think they just say it to tease me.  I took a photo of the most beautiful sunset the other night. I pointed out to them that God must love pink because he uses it to make beautiful moments.  They all stared at me like I am insane.
Monday night, Quincy (#6) had a game.  She played really well.  We got a kick out of her story about having to guard the "beast."
Tonight, Cameron had a game at Silver Lake. I had to go after my dentist appointment and didn't know how long it would take to get there from Lawrence.  Saige and I ended up being quite a bit early.  We killed a little time at the playground.  She had fun but it was a lot colder than I originally thought.

Cameron (#00) had a great game.  He is really improving with every game and it is fun to watch him.  His team didn't win tonight but I was proud of Cameron's effort.

Happy Rainbow Day

Life is too short not to celebrate all the holidays.  Even the ones that Saige made up in a feeble attempt to get cake.  We even had a few decorations!
To celebrate rainbow day, one would think you might need rain with a bit of sunshine.  We had a small amount of snow instead.  Preston and Quincy had a great time with their redneck Olympic Games.  You know....what family doesn't sled on a skateboard you took the wheels off of, an old Rubbermaid container, several types of lids and then just plain old cowboy boots?
I did make Saige a rainbow day cake.  She was extremely pleased.  That is, until Colin came home and proclaimed that rainbow day cake was only for boys, therefore he must eat the entire cake while Saige watched.
He was not met with enthusiasm for HER HOLIDAY with his bad ideas.
Mallory moved back to Emporia this week.  She is working weekends here.  I think she missed the puppy.  I am not sure if Blitz felt the same.
