Day Camp

Quincy attended 4-H day camp one day this week.  She had a great time!  They played watery sponge tag, wiffle ball, ate awesome tasting hotdogs and made crafts.  She is hoping they do another one over Christmas break!   Quincy attended with cousin Kyle.  I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed driving them back....those 2 are constantly having conversations that crack me up!

A picnic

Jim's Uncle Ray and Aunt Marilyn were in town for a few days last week.  We had a fun time seeing them.   The little girls were extraordinarily excited with their new jewelry!

Goat spa

Our fearless goat leader came on a house call today to help us learn to trim goat horns and hooves.  The goats are now ready for the county fair, except we still have to do a little hair trim!

Somebody is not hanging out at the ballpark!

I promised Quincy that when ball season ended we could go to one of the night swims at the city pool.  We had an awesome time, but the little girls got kind of chilly.   They then had to have a snack while they waited for Quincy to finish swimming.  What do we eat when we are freezing?  Yep, ice cream will warm you right up!
Preston had a friend over this afternoon, I think it is sweet how they include the little ones in their games and fun!
Some friends of ours are selling their house and gave us a picnic table.  Some of us couldn't wait for dinner time!
This week, we have had plumbing drama, Jim and the boys have cut a ton of brush and trees, we have mastered halter breaking a calf, taught goats to stand correctly, and started wondering if one of the guinea hens is sitting. She only comes out for a brief time in the heat of the day!   We are hoping that we may have some babies soon!

Monday snapshots

We have been trying to get eye doctor, dentist and physical appointments done before school starts.  Quincy has better than perfect vision!  And she was happy because she finally got to use her Sonic gift card that she received for perfect attendance at Religion Ed last year!
Paracord bracelets seem to be the going craft at our house.  We are very stylish!
In hindsight, we probably should have started working with the calf on halter breaking a bit earlier in the summer.   Perhaps before he decided he is a goat.   He throws himself down on his side when he doesn't want to walk.....which is exactly what the goats do!   I am pretty sure Preston's calf is having an identity crisis.

Sundays are my favorite

I think it is safe to say we all enjoy the goats.  They have funny personalities, eat weird things like hedge balls and I kind of get a kick out of watching them stand on their hind legs to eat leaves out of the trees!

The dog is getting big.  He knows several commands and I feel like he is a pretty good dog.   We are learning that dog ownership comes with having to give up a few things such as uncovered trash cans, leaving shoes outside, and flower beds outside the front door.  Overall we think Flashy is worth it!
Madison got promoted to cook at work from dietary aide.  The promotion came with full time hours, a raise, more responsibilities, but more predictable hours on the schedule.   As such, she now has Sunday off work, which means she tries out recipes on us.  Today's trial, chocolate covered cherry cake.  It was as good as it looks!

Jim seriously loves trimming trees.  He has plenty to trim around here, and has been keeping the boys busy helping him.  Today, Preston got to learn to run the electric chainsaw!
If only Sunday could happen twice a week!

Annnnnd....ball season is a wrap

Colin, Cameron and coach Jim played in their final game tonight.  They placed 4th in the tournament.  I am very proud of this team.  I think they did a lot of growing and learning this season.
And now to enjoy a few weeks of evening freedom!
