Yesterday, Jim had a load of dirt delivered for my raised beds, and also for filling in some holes that a certain Bassett Hound has been digging in the yard, and a few other things. Is it just me, or is it awfully convenient that the dirt was delivered on the day he was doing a colonoscopy prep? I started the process alone, but he won't get off the hook that easily! Unfortunately, the colonoscopy got rescheduled,....I might get him some Depends and hand him the shovel anyway! :)
Also - I picked up Harper and Saige's Easter/4-H gifts last night. Three Flemish Giant does. We are switching gears a bit. We have been raising mini rex rabbits. I like them for their dual-purpose status, and their smaller stature, making them easier to handle. However, we have had a terrible experience with getting them to raise their kits. I have had rabbits off and on for my entire life and never had any trouble like we have had with the last few mini rex does. I have people who would buy them for meat, and I have nothing to show for the feed I am putting into them. So we decided to switch to a more meat type breed, but one that is known for its gentle nature. The Flemish Giant is both gentle, and meaty. We still have a pair of otter Mini Rex, and we did breed them, and we are hopeful for better results, but are also trying something new in addition.
And who doesn't like something new that is this dang cute? Seriously....why am I so obsessed with the cuteness?
