Sold!

Today was meeting day - check in style, and auction day. I also got called in to sign a contract for the new school year for driving the bus.  I had a well laid out plan where I would drop the girls at the fair, run to sign my contract, go get the prizes for the check in and be back right on time.  We got up, stepped out to take care of morning chores, and got a small kick in the teeth - when we were met with a flat tire.  This is the second flat this week!  This happens when they blade the roads around here.
We got ready, I was able to air the tire up and it held, so I drove it to town to have it fixed.  While I was doing that, the girls did the fair chores.  I signed my contract - which made me feel really sad.  Not because I don’t want the job, but because summer just never lasts long enough.  I was also given a bus today, but I told them I was going to kick it up later - I want my last few days without that reminder set in my sight.  He laughed and told me to get it whenever I wanted, as long as it was before the first day. Sigh.  So sad.

I got the tire fixed, got the prizes picked up, made it to the contract meeting and made it back in time to check my little 4-Hers off.  We had the afternoon without anything going, so we came home, and baked cookies for the livestock auction buyers, and to put fresh cookies in the cookie jar for the sale. It was nice to be home for a while.

This evening, the girls sold their goats.  When I say sold- I no longer mean it literally.  The fair has gone to a premium only auction. Which means it is up to you to decide what to do with your animals after the fair and sale are over.  You can sell them. You could put them in your freezer, or you can take them home and keep them. Which is why I purchased does this spring, because these will become part of our breeding stock now.  There are less tears this way for sure.

I didn’t do a very good job of taking photos, but both the girls got good prices for their projects.  The money they receive will go into their accounts to help with cars or college or whatever they want later.  It is a generous program  for the kids, and we appreciate all the support given to these kids by our community!

We were also excited when Preston drove in this afternoon!  He’s officially done in Tulsa and home for a few days before classes start back up.  I’m glad he’s back!

Also, since the wedding is over,  the secret is out.  Colin and Spencer are having a little one this winter.  Spencer sent me some new photos of our new little peanut!  I am so excited about more grand babies!  I cannot wait to find out the gender so we can start buying stuff for it!  Life is good!  Full of fun and blessings.
