Lessons in corn

This evening we spent over at my parent's  farm.   Grandpa was cutting corn for silage.  They had one row that got bent over instead of cut and grandma thought maybe we would like to come pick it up for chickens, goats etc.
So we went on a corn picking adventure.
Saige spent a lot of time picking out ears she thought her goat would like.
Harper looked for little ears.
And all the kids had questions about what grandpa was doing exactly.  So we watched him chop for a while.  The kids were pretty impressed with his corn chopper.
And then we followed the guy who was hauling it and watched them unload and pack it for silage.  The kids thought uncle Eric had the best job with packing, but I told them that I once remembered grandpa Robert rolling his bulldozer while packing.   It's not as fun as it looks!
Nobody thinks that eating chopped corn would taste very good!  Everyone enjoyed riding around in the gator though!
And the critters here at home were very appreciative of the field trip we took!
