Games

Quincy had a home game last night agains Prairie View.  The girls played so well and it was awesome to watch them win by 36!   Quincy had a great night with multiple steals, a ton of assists and keeping their big girl completely shut down.

This evening, Preston was in a dodge ball fundraising tournament. I love this idea of fundraising.  The kind of stuff where I don’t have to sell anything makes me happy!  Preston asked if he could participate probably a month ago.  I signed the permission form and honestly completely forgot about it.  Yesterday, he came home from school and said that they told him that his bff could not be the coach, he had to have an actual adult. In a fit of desperation, he wrote my name down and prayed I would forgive him.  It turns out, this is our month to clean the church.  Maybe forgiveness isn’t as necessary as broom pushing?

He had a great time on this team.  He stopped last night and bought and designed the shirts himself.  His team seemed to have a lot of fun playing, and they came in 2nd place overall.  Preston reminds me so much of Cameron, as they are both overly competitive even if the event is supposed to be just for fun.

A week of Quincy activities

Tuesday, Quincy had a basketball game against Wellsville.  Harper took pictures and videos for me.  The blog ap on my phone won’t upload video, so we will just save that for another day.  Quincy played great and her team won by 50 points.

Harper knows how to do all sorts of weird stuff on my phone.  I’m not sure what to make of this.

Tonight, Quincy had a choir and band concert. Quincy is in the girls choir.  She really loves this and is excited about it.  I have never made it a secret that I am not much of a fan of the choir, although it makes me sad because I was in choir and loved it growing up.  The choir actually sounded pretty good this evening.  I was pleasantly surprised.

Quincy also plays trombone in the band.  She hates it.  I have made the same deal with all the kids, you play through jr high and then you can quit if you really want to.   She’s counting the days.  I keep hoping she will change her mind because I love, love, love the band program.  I guess we shall see what happens.  The band sounded pretty good this evening!

These 2 being best friends makes me incredibly happy because her momma is one of my best friends.  Having lifelong friends is the greatest gift in the world.

Tomorrow, Quincy has a basketball game.  She has dominated our week!  Which is totally ok because we love watching our kids do their stuff.

Blizzard

Yesterday, Madison and Andrew flew back to Arizona.  Cameron returned to Manhattan.   It left our house feeling fairly empty.  I am thankful that they all traveled yesterday, when it was 60 degrees and sunny!   We also worked at a craft fair, and finally got the goat’s hooves trimmed and wormed.  It was a fantastic day to be outside!  The weather service has been saying a blizzard would happen today for roughly a week.  Being outside yesterday, it was really hard to believe.

Turns out, they weren’t wrong.  The storm blew in with a vengeance this morning and it snowed all day long.  Because of the trees that surround our house, the wind isn’t as bad as it is elsewhere.  There was near white out conditions most of the day.   We watched the reports coming in about multi car pile ups and insterstate closings.  I am thankful that we had no place to be!  School has already been called off for tomorrow.  I am thankful for that as well, as I have come down with the plague and could use another day home with nowhere to go.

Our black Friday

We had a rather eventful Black Friday,   It is usually a day I avoid town at all costs.  This year we all were brave.  Cameron went shopping with some of his friends.  They like to go on thanksgiving night and then take a Christmas photo.  These crack me up.

We decided while Madison is here, we better go dress shopping.  This is not the dress she chose, but she did choose a dress.  Made it all seem very real!  The little girls are not good, patient dress shoppers.  We probably should have left them home!

We had 3 kittens left from the latest litter.  A friend needed some kitties, so we gave them away today.  These little kittens should have a great life, mouse cats in a heated sheep/goat barn!  The girls were sad to see them go, but with the bad luck we have with kittens, their life expectancy is a lot higher now!

Madison and Mallory spent the whole day shopping.  Madison came home with Mallory afterwards. She had purchased a rice Krispy treat train kit.  The kids were all excited!  I am sad that Madison will be returning to the desert tomorrow, but I am glad they were able to be here for Thanksgiving.  Mallory, my mom and my niece are going to visit her for Christmas and then if everything goes right, they will be moving back a few months from now.  I have that to be thankful for!

This evening, Saige had a couple of friends over for her birthday party.  She wanted a craft and cupcake decorating night.  Easy enough!   Currently, she is asleep on the living room floor and her friends are having make overs compliments of Harper!  Apparently Black Friday wore Saige out!

Turkey day

We had a fantastic thanksgiving here at our casa.  All of our kids were home (only missed Spencer).  Madison and Andrew were here from Mesa!  My mom and sister, along with Mallory and Madison and I cooked up a pretty good feast.  The little girls got in on lending a hand as well!

I had a great time getting to see everyone, but failed in the photography department. This is as good as it gets for this year!   Thanksgiving is one of my favorites!  I have so much to be thankful for!

Happy birthday Jim!

Today is Jim’s birthday.  He had a good day, including lunch with all of the kids except Colin and Spencer.  His parents also got to join us.  He said it was a good day.

Jim even consented to having 1 candle.  He’s not fond of birthday singing or flames I guess.   He is a fan of keeping the peace and order around here, and of keeping the kids and I entertained.  He has the biggest heart of anyone I know.  Love you Jim!  Happy birthday!

More basketball

If you don’t enjoy basketball pictures, this is not a blog you should tune in to.  Quincy had a game last night at Anderson County.  Her team won again, and are still undefeated in league play.  They played awesome as usual!  I drove their bus.  These girls are a lot of fun off the court too!  Junior high is an awkward time but they sure do make me laugh!

During halftime of the 8th grade game, Quincy and her sidekick entertained the crowd with a dance they made up.  The dance reminded me of people having seizures.  At least it was free entertainment!

Now bring on Thanksgiving break!
