Father’s Day weekend

If you want your photos in chronological order, and neatly organized, this is not the post for you.  Keep scrolling.  If you don't mind a hot mess.....then welcome!
This weekend was a long one due to having Juneteenth off on Friday.
Which was good.  Saige had 4 games scheduled.  Thursday night, her team played in Lyndon.  Friday night, they played at home.  Evelyn also had a game in Harveyville on Friday.

Friday, I used the day to get caught up some in the garden, and worked on the pool which has some sort of frustrating leak I cannot manage to get patched up, but have slowed it down to a very small drip.
It was delightful!  I love days I can spend puttering around with my plants, my pool and my critters.  I was happy to have a day off!  Even happier that I got paid to stay home - could never be sad about that!
Saturday, Jim, Mallory and I traveled to Wichita to see Colin, Spencer and Easton.  It had been way too long since we had seen them, and we were so happy to have a chance to snuggle on that baby!  He is the sweetest, happiest little guy!   A real delight to be around!  We took Colin out for his birthday lunch, and had a nice visit.  I love days spent with my kids!

Sunday was Father's Day.  Jim and I ran to Lawrence, where he helped grandma Chris move a couple of pieces of furniture and then we grabbed a few groceries.  Planning ahead some for easy meals during tournament week.  Saige's team placed first in the league, and I anticipate them doing well in tournament play.  If we are going to be running all week, fast and easy needs to be a thing!
The girls came over for Sunday/Father's day lunch.  We had a nice afternoon of goat training and swimming (first official pool day of the summer!).  I know we are late with the pool, but honestly, it has not been that warm, and even yesterday I had to get out after a little bit because it was just too cold.  I am having a love/hate with the weather.  I love that it is cool and easy to be outside at ballgames or working in the garden, and the rainy weather definitely has my garden plants looking great.  However, I love swimming and warm weather and I feel like summer just hasn't arrived quite yet.

Father's day - a day to honor dads.  It is easy to honor the fathers in our lives.  My dad is what I like to call a silent partner.  He doesn't have much to say, what he does say is usually some sort of a smart-assed or funny comment, but he is always there to help when you need him, always shows up for the kids, and would literally defend you to the death.  The past 9 months have been hard on him, but he still showed up anyway.
And my kid's dad....my Jim.  He is the dad who dives into whatever the kids are doing, learns all the things he can about it, and then becomes their biggest supporter.  A dad who always has your back is the biggest blessing any kid could ever have.  He learned this from his own dad, who was our very biggest cheerleader.
Andrew and Colin- the dads to my grandbabies.  They are involved, in tune, hands on dads.  I am so proud of them both!  We are very, very blessed in the dad department.

But seriously, my grandchildren are the cutest in the land.

We drug this kid to eat Chinese food.  The place we ate was hot.  I think their a/c was broken and with cooking and frying food, it was steamy in there!  He sat in his seat the whole time just smiling and talking!  He is seriously a great/easygoing kid!

Saige's game Friday night was a fiasco.  It was supposed to be a double header.  They started the first game, despite it looking very stormy.  They got just about finished, and then it started to rain.  And then rain harder.  Then there was some lightening, so they put them on a 30 minute rain delay.  We sat in the car (thank you for letting me borrow your umbrella grandma Nancy!).  The rain sort of subsided, and they finished the game in light sprinkles under the most beautiful rainbow!  The second game started.  They had played I think half of an inning, when lightening spread across the entire sky.  Second rain delay was called, but the coaches decided to not finish the game.  I was actually glad.  I do not enjoy sitting on metal bleachers in a storm!  Or being outside in general when it is raining....I pay my mortgage on time every single month so that I do not have to be outside in the rain!  I know they were trying to get the games in, as the season was ending and all games had to be played before Saturday, but some things are just not worth the risk in my opinion.

Mallory took some photos of Wrenley for her 3 year old birthday!  I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around her being 3 already!  The photos are cute and they capture her ornery just perfectly!

Cameron and Tatum traveled to western Kansas so that Cameron could meet her family.  They had quite an adventure it sounds like.  They went to breakfast at a coffeeshop that Grace's niece owns.  Cameron told her that he knew her Aunt Grace, and got a photo with her.
They were also in a tornado warning, but were not hit.

I liked this photo of Cameron posing with the shadow people.

Now the weekend is over, the grandkids have been snuggled, regular ball season is over, and I accomplished some things at home.  I guess the new week can start.
