TGIF

Another week has come and gone here at our abode and I didn't make the time to blog much.  Maybe it is laziness, or maybe it was reality of if I was going to blog it would have been late, late at night and I just needed some sleep!  Either way, here I sit with a ton of photos that I took all week, and a new phone that is already stuffed with photos that need to be deleted off of it!
It was the last week of Jr. High basketball.  Cameron's team played their last game last night against Royal Valley.  They had a perfect season.  It was not the kind of perfect season that you brag about to your grandchildren some day.  It was a character builder!  :)  Cameron played hard, played fair, and put his heart on the court.  We are proud of him no matter what the score board said!  The jr. high girls adopted Harper to yell with them....she thinks she is a real live cheerleader!

Cam is #33 in red.  He is planning to play some summer league basketball, and we hope it will be fun for him!

Colin rode to the game with me.  When we got there the coach started yelling HEY COLIN COME HERE!  I thought how nice he wants to say hi.  He didn't want to say hi, he wanted Colin to keep score.  I questioned this decision since Colin is a wrestler, I questioned it further when I noticed Colin copying off of the Royal Valley scorekeeper he was sitting beside!  He said she copied off of him some too.....not sure if I buy that or not.

Cameron also had a choir concert this week.  It was a pretty good concert, as you can tell by the smile on Quincy's face!
Since I have known Jim we have had a small debate going - he says Dust in The Wind is one of the worst songs ever made.  I say it is one of the great classics!  Cameron's choir sang it.  I was happy.  Jim may not have enjoyed it as much!
For part of the concert, they had the high school choir come and sing with the jr. high.  It was interesting.

Cameron also had a social studies project where he made hard tack.  Apparently the idea of being at war, and eating this type of food was a concept that Cameron does not embrace.  He said if he had to eat hard tack, he would probably starve to death!  I have to agree with him....it is not too tasty!  He probably added more salt than what the recipe called for, and his was more like salt dough!

Harper wanted to pose by the Royal Valley Panther.  Except when we walked over there and she saw its eyes, she was no longer sure she wanted to.  I had to show her that he wouldn't bite her before she would stand there!  Saige wasn't going anywhere near this thing!

Harper got ahold of my phone and took this 'selfie' she has a real talent for photography no?
The dragons were chilling out in my kitchen sink.  They have gotten huge....partly because now they spend their afternoons with me being able to see them.  Whenever they look at me, I feed them.  We have become very close!
These little girls are so good when we are at work.  They play nicely.  It makes me laugh when I hear the stuff they pretend, and I feel extra blessed that I get to spend my days with them!
And the other project of the week is finished too!  I love how it turned out, and I love that my floor now feels solid, has no holes in it, and no nails sticking out!  Its the little things in life right?  Jim and I listed the house on some free websites, but we haven't really gotten any response.  We have our realtor coming at the beginning of the week to do an actual listing on it.  I hope this adds some value!  It shouldn't hurt!
The weekend isn't looking very relaxing, but the weather is supposed to turn nasty, so we may get some forced downtime!

One big ol' blog update

It has been a very busy, very productive week here in our neck of the woods.
Colin was wrestler of the week at SFT.  When I was working at the after prom dinner, I snuck  away for a few minutes to take a photo of the bulletin board.  Colin also got a Big 7 league honorable mention.
He had Regionals this weekend, and Jim has been down in Burlington watching.  Unfortunately Colin did not qualify for state, and so his season is now over.  We are so proud of him anyhow!  It was a great season!
This means that Madison's little stint as the "wrestling team cookie baker" is now over as well!  She has baked them fresh cookies in mass quantities for weeks now.  I wonder what she will be doing with her Friday afternoons?  There are 2 'helpers' who will probably go through massive cookie withdrawal!

Harper decided that she and Saige should wear overalls to Jr. High basketball this week!  She said it would be good luck!  She was wrong, but they looked cute anyhow!
Last night was "senior night" at the basketball game.  They honored all the basketball seniors as well as the band seniors, forensics seniors and I think some dance team seniors as well.  I have to say it was a little bit of a sad night, as I am still not wrapping my mind around my girls being seniors!  Jim was very sorry to miss out on the evening, but he was at Colin's regional tournament.  I had Cameron take photos.  And he did.  A LOT of photos.  Some of the ceremony, and some of other things unrelated to senior night at the game.  In fairness, he was trying to wrestle Saige at the same time!

The photos are in no particular order.

Also this week, we ripped up our bathroom floor and the guy is supposed to come put new flooring down on Monday.  We have listed our house for sale, and had one showing already.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that the sale goes quickly.  The kids, while excited about having a different house, and life in the country, are fine with not moving any time soon!

While Jim was at regional wrestling, Madison took Quincy to her basketball game and I took Preston to his game.  Preston's team lost 6 to 21 and all 6 of his team's points were scored by Preston.  He is an aggressive thing....which is a little bit surprising if you know Preston at all - he is a pretty passive kid with a compliant personality....off the court anyhow!  :)

Now we are going to try to get caught up a little bit from all the running of the week!

League

Yesterday was Colin's league tournament.  It was at Perry Lecompton.  He had an awesome day.
He got his 20th win for the season, went 3 and 1 for the day.

I had a really good time watching him wrestle.  It was a great day for his team, as they had someone in the finals in almost every weight class.
Including the 132 weight class, where Colin took 3rd place.  Last year, as a freshman, he wrestled varsity and it was pretty tough on him.  He spent a lot of time on the losing end of the match.  This year, he has so much more confidence, and, he doesn't win them all, but he has definitely won more than he lost.  It has been so much fun to watch him improve!   I am stoked about the next couple of years of wrestling!
