We got 50 broilers today. We spent a great deal of time explaining what a 'broiler' is to the kids. They understand that these chickens are dinner this winter.

Quincy told me they don't look very tasty!

It's hard to look at these little yellow fuzzballs and understand that in a few short weeks they will be very big, very dirty, and very, very tasty!

Quincy and Preston understand what 'do not get attached' means. They also understand that animals who are going to be dinner should have a nice (short) life. This means that they were naming the chickens. I know that they understood the concept when I heard the names. So far, I am not sure how they will tell the difference between Noodles, Nuggets, Stir fry, chow mein, etc!!
