Weekend plans?

Cameron is participating in some kind of corporate Olympics today.  I’m not sure what events they have, or what he is participating in, but he was laughing to me about the rules.   He said that they weigh in the teams for the tug of war!  He was amused by how much seriousness there seemed to be for something that should be fun.
Seems about right?

Today I had plans with my friend Dusty to attend the exotic auction at Clay Center.  Something we very much enjoy, and usually have an amazing day together.  Her son decided at the last minute to go to prom.  Needless to say, she needs to do prom things with him today.   I whined to Jim that I really wanted to go, but didn’t think it would be fun to go alone.   He volunteered to go with me.  I am sure that this man loves me, because I am equally sure he would not have much fun there.  Auctions aren’t his cup of tea. I have thought it over and decided to make him do other things today instead.   We are still going to go see Preston and Sunny.  I’m going to “force” him to take us to dinner. Probably get some groceries on our way back.  And this morning I am going to con him into helping me set up the metal raised bed I bought to expand the strawberry patch, carry some plants out of Preston’s bedroom to plant outside, and get some of the seeds planted in the giant garden we tilled up.  Today is going to be a good day, even if it isn’t the day I originally planned to have.  I don’t get whole days with Jim all that often, and I am excited about it.  Whether we can get Harper and Saige to go along with us, I have no clue, but I’m going to try!

I drove 2/3 graders to practice for a music program this week. Madison was the other driver, so I got to hang with her and Wrenley for a while. I ran Wren around in the grass and filled her pockets with dandelions.  She was showing me how she does the bus pre-trip inspections for her momma. She is a funny little thing.  Always busy. Barely speaks, yet somehow you know what she wants.  She is now completely and hopelessly having a love affair with blueberries.  She did give me one!   Her ability to climb and communicate with facial expressions is uncanny.  I love her and am thankful I got  to hang with them both.

Thirty-three years ago I went to karaoke night at a bar, drank beer as an underage, broke college student who had to go early because they didn’t start carding until 7 pm.  I was having an amazing night with friends.  And then was completely blindsided by a goofy, shy boy who called me Holly.  Never could I have imagined what an amazing life I was in for, or the blessings that would come my way when I said yes I would go out with him.  It’s weird on so many levels to think of how long it has been, how many struggles, life lessons, decisions, life changes and growing up we have endured together.  I will be Forever grateful.
