2 games....4 days

Quincy's ball team had an interesting tournament.  Monday night, they played for about 2 minutes and then the game was called for lightening.  The make up game was for Tuesday night.   On Tuesday, there was an excessive heat warning.  They played at 6:45 and it was 104 when we went by the bank clock on the way to the game.  There was no breeze.  The heat index was 118.  I like the heat.  I love summer weather, but I would be lying if I said it was anything except miserable.   An aunt of one of the girls on the team brought a spray mister and kept the girls wet.  Harper and Saige begged to be misted too!   Quincy's team ended up winning which meant they had to go back on Wednesday night .

Wednesday night was beautiful.  It was 85 degrees and there was a really nice breeze and the sun was behind clouds so it wasn't sunny.  It was a gorgeous evening.  And so Quincy's team started in trying to beat Lyndon.  Quincy played really well, catching a pop fly, hitting a 3 run triple, and making a bunch of outs.  With 21 minutes left in the game, Quincy's team was losing by 3.  And then a storm blew in.  The game was suspended for lightening.

And so we went back to Carbondale once again tonight to play the last 21 minutes and pick up the game exactly as it was when the lightening ruined our evening.  

After all that, we have been at the ballpark 4 nights in a row for 2 games!  Quincy's team was not able to battle back and so they are now finished with ball season.  It was a great season, with a teaching coach, nice teammates, a lot of improvement and a bunch of fun!  

We will be sad to give up our ballpark evenings and concession stand snacks!

I heard good things from the New York crew.  They are taking in all the sights I can think of!  Sounds like a great time 

Cameron had his sports physical today.  He had to get a shot.  He was not a happy camper!  Good news....he survived!   On the way home I ran over the biggest rattle snake I have ever seen. I don't think I killed it either since it slithered away.   Cameron was mad that I wouldn't let him out of the car so he could stone it to death....he wanted the rattles!  Gee, what a terrible mother I am.  

Cameron bought Quincy a morph suit for her birthday.  She can't wait until the next time we have friends over because she will kick butt in hide and seek!  

Tourney time

Quincy had her first game last night in her post season tournament.  Her tournament is in Carbondale.   Since Mallory and Madison were home packing up for New York, I left the little kids at home with them and Jim and I went to the game.  About the time it was supposed to start I got 2 texts.   The first one was from my friend Adreinne saying Carbondale was going to get hit by a storm with a possible tornado in it.   But where we were sitting we could see the storm and we were not really in the path. The second text was from Mallory asking if I was going to come home because there was a tornado on the ground in Hutchinson.   I laughed to Jim that Mallory probably had the kids in the basement while Colin and Cameron were swimming.   :)

After a couple of thunder delays, the game was postponed until this evening.  

This evening was pretty miserably hot.  We kept the girls wet, and forced them to drink a ton of water.   Quincy played 1st base, third base and shortstop.  She played amazingly well, causing several outs. She also hit a single and a 3 run triple. Their team won and so we have to go back again.....they are still alive! 

I heard from the traveling girls that even though their flight was delayed they made it to the Big Apple safely.   I hope they have a great trip!  

Swim party

We had a good time at the 4-H swimming party!   The kids swam for 3 hours this evening.  After a very busy weekend, they weren't in the house 2 minutes before they were in pj's and asleep!  

Happy 9th Birthday Quincy!

My Quincy girl turned 9 years old today.  Crazy that she is so big already!   The girl loves her animals.   Chickens, goats, ducks, pigs she takes care of all of them! She wants to be a chicken farmer when she grows up! 

Madison made her a chicken cake and chicken cup cakes.   She was so happy! 

The only thing she wanted to do was have her bff come over swim and go fishing.  We didn't get to go fishing because of the weather but today was warm and they did get to swim.   These 2 little girls are rough.  They play and goof off and remind me of what a really awesome friendship looks like.  Zero drama!   I think they both had fun.

Cameron's last game.

Cameron (#00) played his last 2 games for the summer league in St. Mary's last night.  

Every single week has been some sort of adventure. Including last night where Cameron locked his keys in his car, along with his basketball shoes and his friends basketball shoes.  Luckily I have a friend from high school who is a lock picking genius and helped us out!  We made it with 5 minutes to spare!  

I have really enjoyed watching the boys play.   They have improved and I have enjoyed  getting a taste for the coaching staff which will be different from what Cameron had last year.  

It should be fun to watch them this winter.  

And sometimes watching Cameron's facial expressions is the best part! 

I think part of what I enjoyed was having some one on one time with Cam the past few weeks.  He is so busy working, practicing, going to weights, etc it was nice to have a couple hours to catch up with him.  He is excited about his upcoming sophomore year and he has some great plans that I am excited to watch him activate!   

Mid week randomness

Mallory and Madison have been working tons of hours at Brookside   Even though they live here, I don't feel like we see much of them.  Madison is also taking some summer school classes, so she is really insanely busy.   They are both looking forward to a vacation next week to New York.   I am happy for them to have some time to actually have some fun.   And yes, the photo below is of Madison feeding a goat off of a spoon.  I threw that spoon in the trash.  

Quincy played in her last regular season game tonight.  She played so well!  She spent the night playing 3rd base.   She also had a single and a 3 run triple.  She is gearing up for her post season tournament.  

This weekend, Jim and I took a huge risk (I felt it was a risk, Jim was confident the whole time it would be fine).  We changed the sand in our pool filter   For the first time this year. The water is actually clear   You can even see some leaves or something on the bottom, which I will vacuum out just as soon as the weather warms up beyond 70 degrees!  I cannot believe how chilly it has been the past couple of days!  

Our Blitz is getting big and she doesn't like to sit for a photo.   Harper tried to help me.  

Teddy has settled into outdoor life nicely. He has even befriended Jack and the one baby she has left.  The baby is named Chocolate. I let the lack of a serial killer name slide since this kitty is going to  be a barn cat at grandma's house. I might also mention that Madison didn't really want to put Teddy outside, and she actually bought cat diapers.  Yes they make them.  Yes, she is crazy.  And no we will not be using them. 

Today was the first day we let the new goats out with the others. They seemed like they got along just fine.  I was happy, as I didn't need any goat drama or fatalities going on! 

I conned Cameron into going to town with me yesterday to get Harper's glasses fixed and pick up the new cat.  He bought a selfie stick and insisted we try it out.  

When I was looking at photos tonight with Saige, she was sad she wasn't included in the picture.  Easy to fix!
