Winter Formal on a busy Saturday

This evening was the high school winter formal.  I am unclear on if it is actually formal or winter semi-formal?  Apparently, you can pay an extra dollar for your ticket and not have to dress up.  Whatever it is, the NHS is in charge of the dance, and Mallory has busted her hump this week helping with making decorations, planning food and I don't even know what all else.  She even forced Madison to help one evening!  One of the things she had to do was bring fruit for the chocolate fountain.  She went to the store this afternoon, and then went to take a shower.  While she was in the shower, the little girls had a small feast.  Jim saved her day by going back to the store!

Colin was not going to the dance.  He had no date, he had no desire to dress up, and he decided to stay home.  Until his friend stopped by.  And then he realized he could pay the extra dollar to stay in jeans.  So he put on a clean shirt and decided to go try to conjure up a date when he got there.
Colin teased Madison that she looked like an Amish school girl.  I thought she looked very nice!

However, during the photo taking, we discovered a huge hole in her white sweater, so she threw on the one she wore last year instead.
I don't know if he will be able to find a date last minute, but he cleans up pretty well.  The world would end if he smiled though.

After the big kids left for the winter dance, the little kids and I went to the Overbrook Country Christmas. They had lighted horse drawn carriage rides, caroling, hot chocolate and a visit from Santa.  My camera's batteries died, and I didn't end up with any good photos, but the kids loved riding the lighted sleigh.  They were all given jingle bells to ring while they rode.  It was very cool.  It was also very cold, which is why we did not wait for the hour before Santa arrived.  Nobody wanted to stand outside any longer!

We actually started out the day with a birthday party for Jesus at my mom and dad's church.  The kids really had a nice time.  They decorated cupcakes, had crafts and heard the Christmas story.  Quincy had a great time putting together her puzzle.  It was a really fun day.
