Cameron is in track

Cameron joined his 8th grade track team.  He has had several meets but they have been either at times where we were frantically trying to get out of our house before the deadline, the weather was freezing cold, or they were 2 hours away!  Needless to say I haven't been his greatest track fan.   He has jokingly said it is ok mom 'track isn't a real sport' although we both know he doesn't mean that!   He has been good about forgiving us for not coming to cheer him on.
So tonight his meet was close and it was a beautiful 75 degrees, no more excuses!     I gave Preston and Quincy a choice between riding the bus home or me picking them up early.  Quincy wanted to go.   I picked her up from school and we went to Lyndon.  When we got there she looks around and said "wait....we are at a track meet?   I thought you were taking us swimming???"   Seriously Quincy?  Anyhow we waited quite a while for Cameron's events.  The little girls were not very patient. We finally watched him throw discus and do hurdles.  We were then waiting for him to do some relays when a huge storm blew in.   We managed to get our hotdogs from the concession stand safely into the van, found Cameron and get out of Lyndon before the storm blew us over a rainbow. I was happy I finally got to see him participate in a meet, and super happy to get home!
