Sunday - the day of rest

I remember a day, back about 24ish years ago, when Sunday was a day of nothing.   We would often go to evening mass, and we would laze around the house most of the day in our pj's and make muffins, read a book, and maybe watch a movie.  Occasionally we would venture into the store or maybe go out to eat, but only if we felt like getting dressed.  It was one of the things I loved the most about being married.   Now, we have kids.  And I love them and the chaos they brought into our house.  We still sometimes sleep in and laze around. Until around 8 am!  I thought when we started attending Saturday evening mass, it would make Sunday more like a day of rest.  I really need medication for my delusions.
Sunday is  about catching up on household projects, fixing the things that have gotten broken during the week, making sure laundry is done, cleaning so you can at least start the week without tripping, basketball practices, errand running, and grocery shopping day.  I love having my family and I even love the chaos, busy schedules, seeing their bodies wrapped in clean clothing, but sometimes I miss the lazy Sunday.  Not every week, but sometimes.
Occasionally, in addition to the normal stuff, Jim likes to have a special project too.  There is a pond behind our house.  The former owners did a nice job digging the hole and even put berms around it to direct surface water into the pond.  Every time we get any sort of significant rain, it fills up.  The bad part is the water never stays.  Our pond seeps. Jim had done a fair amount of investigating and research on this topic, and he has talked to a couple of experts as well.  They recommended lining the pond with bentonite.  Thus- yesterday's special project.  Now we just need some rain to see if it worked!  The kids worked really hard, and are eager to see if it was successful!

The rest of the projects got completed as well. Saige and Harper started a count down to Christmas. Quincy decided to count down to 4-H camp instead.  Maybe we can have a day of rest when the kids are on Christmas Break!
