Fair 2018 - day 1

Thank you to a lot of help from Mallory and Cameron, all of the posters and all of the critters were entered successfully.

This is Cameron’s last year.  His goat was pretty small and hasn’t grown well.  They must weigh 50 pounds to sell.  We all were sweating bullets hoping for the best.  Ol Ralphey weighed 56 pounds!   I’m not clear on if wetting down the goat plus wetting down a heavy lead rope was the difference or not!

Saige has worked and worked with this little doe.  She wanted to show her in open class since she’s too young for 4-H.  We decided one more didn’t matter and we let her.  So today was Cameron’s last weigh in, and Saige’s first one.

I forced the kids to do consultation judging on their cookies.  We missed the poster judge.  Preston got a purple on his cookies.  The girls all got blues.  Harper and Saige’s posters received blues and Quincy’s got a purple.  I am pretty proud of them!

This evening was the goat show.  Saige was ready by 4:00 and open class shows after the 4-H.  She had an excruciating wait!  She did amazing for her first time in the ring!

Our goats got a whole lotta red ribbons.  But the experience, fun and the memories are what matters most.   Well that...and the fact that they all made weight and can sell at the auction!
