One roomin' it

Quincy had a field trip to a one room school house today. Mallory and Madison loved this trip and thought it was the most awesome field trip in the history of field trips.
You are asked to dress the part, and to bring a sack lunch in a pail as they would have "back then" containing foods like apples, eggs and a sandwich.   No ziplock bags or chocolate chips.  She also had spelling words and a poem to recite.
Quincy's teacher was kind enough to send me these photos.  I really appreciated it!
Quincy said that it was ok.....but she thinks there are probably more fun places to visit.

Preston's babies

Preston's goat, Buttee had her babies today.  She had triplets, but sadly, one didn't survive.  The two who are left are big, healthy looking, adorable kids!
The first thing that this one did was go through the fence into the pen with Glow!  Trouble making at an hour old!   Saige straightened him out!
The boy has a 7 on his head and another on his neck.  Preston Named him Seven.
This one is a girl.   Preston let Saige name her.  She is Katie!  They are both sweet as can be!  Preston is pleased!

School stuff.

Harper's class celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday last week by having wacky Wednesday!  She seemed to enjoy it and although the Dr is by far not my favorite author, I was amused with Harper bringing home some of his books and reading them to us.
Her teacher has been awesome to share a lot of her little moments.  Harper really loves kindergarten and this week asked if she HAS to go to first grade next year!
These two are inseparable.  Last year, they got into a lot of trouble together.  This year they have matured.  I haven't gotten a single phone call.  They do amuse, me I have to admit.  I got two texts this week.  The first one was from the cook at their school laughing about their crazy hats.  I was giggling about the amount of cool whip they hoarded on their breakfasts!
The second text was from Quincy's teacher with a note that said "look! They can sit together and be quiet!"  It actually melts my heart that they are so close.  Landrie's momma is one of my best friends from all of our lives.
This boy was selected to join National Honor Society.  I am pretty pleased with his academic performance.
And this boy went through a lot of testing and was asked to be in the gifted program.  I have known for quite some time he was bright, but the test scores were pretty impressive.  We have signed all the paperwork, and he started into gifted classes this week.  He came home and said he felt like he would love the class. He said it felt good to be challenged. I am excited to see him grow and expand his education.

Other stuff

It was crazy hat day at Quincy's school. She asked Colin if she could borrow his hat.  He gave it to her, but made her promise not to smoke in it "because it's flammable".  He did not, however tell her she couldn't zip tie a chicken to it!
I like photos.  What can I say?  ;)
Yesterday, Cameron spent the day at league band.  They get all the band kids in our league and spend "about 1000 hours" rehearsing a few songs, and then they perform together.  Cameron said it would be fun if it was half a day instead of all day and that "nobody needs that much practice!"   Impatient teenagers!

Baby pics

Quincy's goat had her babies today.  Twin boys!  Quincy couldn't be prouder!  Luckily, Glow is a good mother and didn't have any trouble delivering her babies!
I went down to check the goats around 2 this afternoon.  They sure didn't seem like anything was going on. I mentioned to them that I was getting impatient. (Yes, I do indeed talk to goats....).
Around 4:30 the kids went out to do chores and Harper came back squealing.  Quincy was beside herself!
I love all critters, and have been known to latch on to some because of their cuteness, but I swear nothing is cuter than a baby goat!
The only thing that Quincy was upset about was that she knows that boy goats get sold.  But for today, the cute sweetness over rides any future sales!

Preston's last game

Preston played his last game of the season this evening.  It was a sort of hard season, as they didn't win a single game.  We pointed out to Preston that it doesn't matter what the scoreboard says.   We are interested in him learning and improving.  We feel that he was successful.
He got to play with a bunch of his best friends and was coached by a guy we all like and respect.  They improved from the beginning to the end of the season.  And let's face it, the world needs people who are gracious at losing too.  I bet someday all this practice and trial and error stuff will pay off for these boys!  I am proud of Preston and I look forward to seeing what they accomplish in the future!

Preston's 5th grade musical

Preston and his 5th grade class put on a musical this evening.  The musical was called "The Dude" and Preston had a part!  He was Clyde.  It was super cute!
They all did a great job, but I thought Clyde was outstanding!
