Homecoming

It was homecoming week on the Trail.  I think the kids had a lot of fun activities and seemed to be enjoying it.
Saige and I planned to attend the Homecoming parade, but it was rained out.  They had a large pep rally at the high school instead.  Saige and I decided to not fight for a parking spot!   We stole these pictures off of the school's Facebook page.
If you look hard, you can see Cameron doing his drum majoring!
After such a rainy day, it was a cool fall evening. Jim and the kids watched the game while I worked in the tuba toss tent again.  We made a surprising amount of money and I am pleased with this new fundraiser.
Since our booth was busy during halftime, Preston took photos of Cameron leading the band.  The band sounded good and Cameron did a great job!
Preston brought my phone back and said "I took 57 pictures and every single one of them is awesome!"   He has my photography skills!   ;)
SFT won the game.  Whenever they win, there are some dads who light off fireworks.  I look over and see Quincy dancing like a maniac during the fireworks show!  In fairness, she may have been trying to warm up considering when we had been at the game exactly 3 minutes she decided to play in some puddles and was absolutely drenched.  I stopped carrying clothes for her about 7 years ago!  Crazy kid!
A man from church came and picked up 3 kitties.  Saige had to hug them all goodbye.
This is the last kitty we have left.  I considered bringing it in the house and we gave it a bath. The first time the door opened, it ran right out.  I hope the Owls are all tired of eating kitty carry out.

This week in chaos-land

It's homecoming/spirit week.  Carbondale school won't participate....which is a story for another time.  Harper and Cameron have had fun with dressing up this week!  Monday night was 4-H.  Harper got to join (finally!).  She was extremely excited at home, but absolutely silent during the meeting.  Our kids did the thing they always do during elections.  They tell me they are NOT running for office.  Somehow we left  the meeting with Cameron as the new president, Preston as new junior president, and Quincy as the club reporter.  Could be an interesting year.
Saige got sick at school.  I always feel bad when I send kids to school and they are sick.  I knew she was grouchy, but she does get up early and isn't the best about going to bed at night.  Anyway, her teacher took the below photo.  I love how much they love their kids.   I thought she was better today and even let her go to her religion Ed class tonight.   That turned out to be a dumb move, as she is sick once again tonight.
Harper is in my RE class this year.  She hugged me when we got home and told me she loved my class!  It melted my heart.  Of course, this is the first week, the true test will be what she says in May!
While we were at RE, Cameron was coaching a team at a co-Ed volleyball tournament.  His team took 2nd place despite how he dressed. Cameron also tried out for the high school musical.  They are doing a production he cannot remember the name of!  He is pretty confident that his singing "Dust in the Wind" will make him a shoe in for the lead role.

Sunday fun day

Sunday is my favorite.   Usually it is a day to get caught up, but the feeling is just different.  Relaxation and preparation.
The kids are a little bit sad because we found homes for all of their kittens.  The homes are indoor, or in barn,  owl free homes so hopefully that means these kitties will have a bit longer of a life than if they stayed here!
During mass today, we found out our priest is in some trouble and has been suspended.  Quincy was serving her second time being acolyte, and as a result, she ended up serving for the Archbishop.  That was a little nerve wracking, but she handled it like a champ!  I was proud of her.  I  am saddened by our priest's behavior.  It is yet another blemish on the church that the body of Christ just didn't need.   I don't know if he is guilty, and I certainly hope that he isn't, but it is not the type of publicity that any church needs.
Grandma's handiwork.  Preston was pretty impressed!  There are pumpkins for all of the kids, but this one broke off the vine, so Preston got it now!
I had to go into work for a while this evening.  Preston and Quincy decided while I was there, they would attempt to catch dinner.  They had some retribution for yesterday.
They did have better luck than yesterday, however we had pork chops for dinner!
Mallory was studying for a test when I told the little kids it was time for bed.  She said "what the.....what happened to the weekend?"   Welcome aboard kiddo, I have been asking that question weekly for years now.

Football and fishing.

Preston had a game this morning.  His team lost by 18.  This might seem bad, but last year this team beat them by 55.  I think that is definite improvement!
Preston made quite a few nice tackles today.  It was a good game.
After the game, we attended the city's annual fishing derby.  The above photo reminds me of why I love Jim....he isn't afraid to dive into a pond and retrieve the kids equipment!
The fish really weren't biting for us today. I imagine the storms of last night might have played a role.  We will go with that, and not mention how many times the little girls reeled their line in after Jim would get them set.  I am sure that had nothing at all to do with their lack of success!
The only catch of the day for our clan....a real pretty stick.
The door prizes were really nice though!  Quincy won a shirt.  We should look at this photo and realize it will never be white again.
Saige is really proud of her green and blue salamder pole!
Harper and Preston both won poles as well.  It is a great event. We all had fun!
