After an exceptionally busy week, we had an exceptionally busy weekend.
Colin and his friend worked a concession stand all day yesterday for his CWF trip. They did not make an extreme amount of money, but they did not go belly up as I feared they would. It was a very long day!
While Colin and I were manning the concession stand, Jim took Quincy to her soccer game, where they won another one! Quincy is starting to think she is on the best team in the USA!
I was very thankful for Mallory and Madison who watched the little girls for most of the day so that Jim and I could help Colin and run Quincy.
This morning during mass, Colin let Harper play with his IPOD. This is not something that we usually allow during church, but it was a bit of a challenging morning with the little ones, so I let it slide. She sat very nicely playing games and I admit to being happy at no longer having to wrestle her. And then it happened. I heard sirens, and looked over to see Harper clutching the IPOD to her chest and yelling out "it wasn't me, I didn't do it!!" :) Lesson learned....no more electronic distractions during church!

2012 Homecoming
It is Homecoming week here at SFT. The kids all wore their SFT finest this morning, so I made them pose for a photo! They were very unhappy with me.....but that is ok because it made me happy! I swear I didn't beat anyone even if they look like I did!!
Quincy lost a tooth, she was in an extra good mood this morning since she got a dollar from the tooth fairy. I love the new smile!
This afternoon we attended the homecoming parade. Jim was the parade announcer. If he gets to do it again next year, I will be surprised considering how much he deviated from the script that he was given!! :) He did a good job! Can you see Preston and Quincy in the above photo? Preston is waving.....IDK where Quincy is!
Harper was extra happy to see Cameron - the love between them in so apparent and makes me so happy! Harper loves her "Cammy wammy!"
The girls band marched. What started out as a good spot to watch and take photos, quickly became not a good spot. No good band photos were taken by me! :(
And of course, Colin was on the football float. No good photos of that either!
Colin was on the back of the trailer (left side). This better be the last time I see him getting followed by the police!
We are hoping for a Charger win tonight - it has been something like 5 years since they won a game!

How to do the weekend right
Start out bright and early at soccer. Remember to wear sweats and bring a jacket because it is going to be COLD!
Watch Cameron demonstrate the finer points of playing goalie, although he is not playing soccer.
Quincy was playing goalie. She did a good job of only letting one ball past her. Her team won. She was very excited to be 'undefeated' this season (after 2 games!!).
Follow up soccer with a nice fishing derby. We had Colin, Preston, Quincy and Harper all fishing this year, at Overbrook's 4th annual kids fishing derby. Cameron didn't want to fish, he said its too crowded and he thought he could help Harper.
We fished the entire time, with 2 of my nephews and one niece joining us, and only one fish was caught by anyone in our family! Our nephew snagged a nice catfish. Quincy was a little disappointed, but I didn't see many people reeling in the fish the way they have in the past. Colin thought perhaps the fish caught wind that it was fishing derby day, and went deep to hide!
We all did have a really nice time fishing, and the derby had a lot of prizes, which the kids liked. Most importantly, Preston won a dozen free donuts.....bonus!
After the fishing derby, have a campfire in the back yard. This seemed like a wonderfully easy dinner, considering we had been gone all day, and since it has rained, the fire danger is not as high as it was a couple of weeks ago, so we caved in and let Cam light it up!
Create childhood memories by eating a burned marshmallow off a dirty old stick! :)
Spend Sunday, after church, venturing out to see the penguin exhibit at the Topeka Zoo before it leaves. I promised Quincy we would go see them way back at the beginning of summer break. Back then, it seemed like summer would have plenty of time for a leisurely little trip to the zoo. UUUmmmm I must have been delusional, because it never happened! It is just as well, because the weather was absolutely gorgeous, and we had a nice time taking the little guys and seeing the zoo. It was Harper's first trip to a zoo! She was so excited!
Try to convince Jim he isn't nearly as tall as he thinks he is! :)
Enjoy spending time as a family before next week comes and knocks you back into reality!

It feels like fall
and since it feels cool, the Halloween decorations had to make an appearance!
Mallory told Harper and Quincy when she got home from work she would help them set the inflatables up....she hardly got her car in the driveway before they were attacking her! :)
Not sure how long they will last considering how excited Harper is about them! Of course, this lead to a discussion on when we go trick-or-treating. It could be a long 6 weeks!

Soccer Saturdays
Quincy's soccer team had their first game this morning. Quincy's team won and she scored one of their goals! She played really well. She has a really good coach, who is focusing on fundamentals, and is really teaching the kids a lot. It was fun to watch her play!
She had a large fan club there to cheer her on. The theme of the morning was "I am cold" and I remembered why it was that I dislike soccer - early morning, wet, and cold! I actually don't dislike soccer, just that the time of day the games are scheduled for! Fall weather is actually ok with me, as long as I don't have to be wet, and it is ALWAYS wet during soccer! Jim said to me "this year will be different, we are in a drought and it has been hotter than ever" He already acknowledged that this was not correct information!
I think I better buck up because Quincy loves playing soccer, and this is only the first week!! :)
I did enjoy watching her have so much fun!
After soccer, we came home and I gave Saige a little haircut. After looking at the photos I took of her yesterday, I decided it was very much needed! She looks so grown up now!
Last night, the marching band put on their first performance at the football game. It wasn't supposed to be their first performance, but the first one was rained out. They sounded awesome and I enjoyed listening to them! I helped sell cow pie bingo tickets again for a fundraiser for their next band trip. I was pleased to help with this, as it means that we are starting fundraising for the next trip a whole year early!
Colin and I also worked most of this afternoon parking cars at The Old Maris River Run, a car show in Ottawa. It is a fundraiser with no selling- which I LOVE - and the money goes for his CWF trip. This fundraiser was extra good for the girls last year, and I was once again amazed at how many cars can be packed into a co-op parking lot! Actually, I am amazed at how many people come out for a car show! We have to go back again tomorrow, and I am sort of curious about what people are looking at.....I may have to venture out of our parking lot and check out the event!
