The kids were so excited that today was the first day of the Overbrook fair. They have been anxiously waiting for weeks for this!
They were super excited that the market goats all made weight. The sale weight must be 50 pounds. Preston and Quincy's goats each weighed 51 pounds! That's a little bit too close for comfort!
Big old Mojito weighed 56. He seems a lot bigger to me than the others.
After weigh in, we did a little goat hair cutting.
And followed that up with goat bath time.
Colin's Duroc hog did not make weight. It was disappointing. Colin still showed him and got a red ribbon. Not the way we would have liked his final pig show to turn out for sure.
Colin did an awesome job and was Reserve champion senior showman! That makes me as happy as any award you can ever win. To be a good showman, knowing how to treat an animal and show it truly teaches great life skills!
Being able to discuss your project with a judge is not a bad life skill either!
I am pretty proud of the work the kids put in today!
Way to go Colin!!!! That is great!
