Last day!

The last day is always a marathon and a balance between fun and work.  In our exhaustion, we started out the day at the pet show.  Hayashi, Saige, Quincy and Harper each took a kitten to the cat show.
We had to wait for a while for the show to start.  Hayashi's kitten was very sleepy!
The kids all did pretty good talking to the judge.  Except for Harper, she had to use the bathroom when she was next in line and then got upset because she thought they skipped her.
Preston took Curley.  She is a menace, but that boy loves his goat.
All the kids got blue ribbons.  Saige was reserve champion in open class.  She was extremely excited about her fancy ribbon.
Quincy made a poster about her chicken hatching.  She got a blue ribbon.
The kids decided to participate in the pedal tractor pull.  Saige and Harper didn't pull very far, but that doesn't matter, because everyone who pulls gets a free drink!
Quincy had a bunch of full pulls.  She did amazing!
Preston and Hayashi both did great as well!
All three of them got medals for second place!  We then rushed around and checked out everything that was not being sold in the auction. We followed that up with bathing goats, and cleaning out pens.
Then we attended the parade. It melts my heart when I look around and see my kids hanging out with their cousins.  I feel beyond blessed that they get to grow up together!
Quincy rode on the 4-H club float.
And Cameron made his parade debut as drum major!  The band sounded absolutely awesome!
After the parade, it was off to the auction.  Colin's hog did not make weight, so he did not have an animal to sell.  His aunt Steph, however, took that bit of news and decided she could try to help him.  She managed to get together a bunch of people to do add ons for him.  He ended up with a sizeable amount of money and the knowledge that many, many people love him and are back here at home hoping he does great in college.  I am incredibly proud of Colin and of the things he has done in his 4-H career.
Cameron sold Mojito.
Quincy (regretfully and mostly by force) sold Eric.
Preston sold Seven.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the buyers who gave my kids amazing premiums on their animals.  I admit to shedding a few tears at Colin's last official fair.
After the auction, Colin left for college.  He has wrestling things to take care of before his classes start on Thursday.  I hope he does well.  I am looking forward to watching him do amazing things!
Fair 2016 is a wrap.   I still love the county fair!

  1. That is so cool that you got to all be involved in the Fair! All the fairs out here were over before Sayoko arrived!
