4th Fun

July 4, 2012 was a fun filled day.  Packed is more accurate!
After actually getting to sleep in (always a good start to any day) we went to Overbrook's annual bike parade.  The kids had a good time decorating their bikes....what?  You don't see any decorations?  Well that is because Quincy decided her bike was ALREADY red!
Cameron is very proud of this bike trailer that he found and retrieved from the neighbor's trash!  Oh yea!  He is a master of "picking" and is very proud of himself!
After the bike parade, which has kind of turned into a non-motorized vehicle parade, the whole town gathers for hot dogs and cookies in the city park.  It is a nice tradition, and the kids had a great time riding in the horse drawn wagon!

And the mayor cooked the dogs!

Even though we had technically eaten lunch at the city park, we then joined up at our neighbor, Bev's annual party.  We had a great time feasting on her fabulous smoked ribs and brisket, and swimming in her pool.

We then headed to grandma's house to meet a cousin of my dad's who was in town.  The kids had fun shooting fireworks (on the gravel)  and Harper drank her weight in juice barrels!

And then the kids and their cousins tried to see how many kids can fit in grandma's pool.

We then came home and watched Bev's night fireworks display......and Colin might have been caught telling Preston it is ok to hold a roman candle in your hand as long as you don't point it at anyone.  He has been corrected in this behavior, in case you were worried!

I included the above photo in case that spot on the bottom right is a spirit.  I was hoping it was my grandma, who always knew how to celebrate the 4th the right way!  Yes, I am working on very little sleep and I might be a wee bit insane this far into summer!
I do love the 4th!  It is absolutely in my top 2 of holidays!
Even if it means grubby, sunburned, exhausted kids!
