2013 Overbrook fair is a wrap

The Overbrook fair wrapped up last night.  Overall, I would say it was a huge success.  We had a good time, felt successful, and most importantly, we were happy to have it finished!
This is what Colin did during the fair....ran an illegal poker booth.  My week sounded something like
Colin....its time for the club tour.  Colin?  Colin?  Its time for the tour.
Ok Mom, just a minute, I am about to win a Dr. Pepper from Kyle.
Colin, have you watered your pig?
In a minute mom, I am about to win a Snickers from Trenton.
Now for some other, nicer highlights.  Cameron, Mallory and Madison all qualified to go to the State Fair in cooking.  Cam made the club laugh when he told them his cookies are going to State, and he said I also made brownies, but we will forget about those.....they will not be going to state.  :)
It was a pretty good turn out for the tour, and I was so happy that it finally stopped raining.  It was so muddy and wet!
The little girls enjoyed snow cones while waiting for the parade.  It is illegal to attend a county fair and not have a snow cone....or so I was told.  More than once.

Cameron was on the float committee.  They did a great job putting the float together, and they won first place in the 4-H float division.

Cameron was a horse....they do not allow horses to throw candy.  Or maybe it was that they remembered some incident from last year?  :)

Mallory and Madison marched in their last fair parade.  They did not seem as sad about that as I did.  The band did amazing, although I have not officially heard if they won the battle of the bands or not.

Mallory won the rate of gain contest for swine.  Her hog gained a little more than 2 pounds per day.
The most important part of the fair.....the hogs all sold.  All of the kids had wonderful buyers.
And now I guess we switch gears into thinking about school.  It has been a great summer!

  1. Looks like a great week of fair! We missed our fair this year because of our trip to COlorado for meetings and it was the only time we were going to really get away with daddy. Our fair is nowhere near as big as yours though so the kids were ok with missing it!
