These are yellow golden pheasants. Quincy is fascinated by them and surely does think she needs a few. I tried to explain how pheasants fly and we would need a better cage. I also showed her the price! A girl can dream! If anyone wants to know what she desperately wants for Christmas this year.....
Johnny has really settled into the family nicely. He is doing great with his potty training (better than Saige). He is also getting specialty training....if this works the way I want it to, I will never have to load the dishwasher again!
The little girls are seriously in love with the little critter, and although the teenaged boys in the house would never admit it, I am convinced they like Johnny too!
A boy and his watch calf.
These goats will follow you anywhere if you have a cup in your hand! It works in our favor when it's time to put them in for the night!
It was a dream of mine (one I shared with Jim) to move our kids to the country so they could appreciate and learn something about agriculture. The broiler project is going to be the first time we will be eating meat that we grew. The kids are interested in how the process works. The broilers are getting really big and have exactly 2 more weeks before we will have a butcher day.
We butchered chickens when I was growing up, but it had been long enough I had forgotten how they eat. Wow! There are 45 broilers. They are going through 50 pounds of feed every 3 days. They are also getting scraps of vegetable waste from our kitchen and some corn. They are eating machines!
The guineas have taken a liking to eating broiler feed. If we feed the chicks without dropping a handful for them they really create quite a racket! It amuses me.
