If I thought....

That it was cold at baseball, I was wrong.  It was cold at Cameron's first track meet tonight!  Saige and I braved the chilly wind, the sprinkles of rain, and the cloudy skies and went to watch Cameron at Silver Lake.

Cameron went out for the track team with his big idea of wanting to learn to pole vault.  Since that time, he hasn't been able to practice much because if it is really windy they can't put out the landing mats.   He clearly needs more practice.

He tried hard, but didn't clear the bar.  He said it was fun though.

Cameron also did triple jump.  Ok, so I have honestly never watched this event before.  It is not overly obvious to me what they are doing with their feet.   Cameron did a good job and his coach seemed happy with his jumping.

He was also part of the 4x800 meter relay team.   I believe they placed 3rd!  Cameron is fast!

And last but not least (and shortly before we were completely frozen) he ran the 300 meter hurdles.  I was happy he didn't knock any over!  And he didn't get hurt either!

Saige proclaimed that track takes too long and she hates to be cold.  I am going out on a limb and betting before its all said and done, she will get to be hot at a meet as well!  I am pretty proud of Cameron for giving some new things a try!

The real first sign of spring

Nothing says spring like freezing your buns off at the ball park!  Colin had his first game tonight.  Colin (#16) played left field where he made some awesome plays!  He also had several great at bats but it was kind of a rough night.  They seemed a little bit rusty.  Double headers are long, and I am thankful to Madison who let the littles stay home out of the cold wind!
My recommendation: baseball games must be played when the temperature is above 70.  Since nobody listens to my recommendations, I guess I better find the hoard of blankets I keep packed in the van!

Happy Easter from the land of weird weather!

Easter morning was a bit of a surprise....waking up to about 5-6 inches of snow.  Kansas has crazy weather.  After living here my entire life, I still sometimes get caught off guard. The kids had a bit of an impromptu snowball fight before we left for Mass this morning!
By lunch time, the snow was pretty much a thing of the past and we enjoyed a nice Easter feast followed
By kite flying and
Egg hunting.
It turned into a beautiful day!  I am thankful and blessed!
And now....a little nap before bed.

Good Friday

After attending Good Friday services in Baldwin, we stopped by Sonic.  I am not sure when the technical time for breaking the Lenten fast is, but after dark, during half price shake time at Sonic seemed reasonable.
This kid declared he now eats his own cherry off the top!  Aaawww my boy is growing up!
We even bought for the car next to us! So the car contained Colin and Madison, it still counts right?
We came home and dyed Easter eggs.   Quincy boiled them this afternoon while Cameron and I were trimming goat hooves. I have to say that this job is not hard, but it is not my favorite part of goat ownership.
The kids could hardly wait to get home and get to the dyeing.  Oh, and eating.  Quincy boiled 4 dozen eggs.  There are less than 3 dozen in the refrigerator now!
It was a very enjoyable day.  We got a lot accomplished and had some fun too!
After the breakthrough of eating a cherry (gasp) Cameron announced "I am a man now mom, I can eat the yolk."  He then Took a bite, started spitting and said "yuck!  Yuck!  Why did I do that?"   Well Rome wasn't built in a day!
