A little banquet and some candeling

Tonight was Colin's wrestling banquet.  It is so hard to believe that we won't be attending another one for him.  What a fun ride it was!
The coaches talked about all the kids.  When they got to Colin, the coach literally said "I have so many stories....unfortunately none of them are appropriate to tell here!"  It pretty much sums up Colin for sure.  The other coaches busted out laughing.  They all thanked us for raising such a fun kid.
Colin was also honored for being a scholar athlete.  His team also got recognition for being a team of outstanding scholar athletes.  Pretty impressive.  Such a great program that our school has.  We are going to miss it bunches.
Today was also the first candeling day for Quincy's eggs.  Her friend Landrie came over for the event.  I have to tell this story. When they got home, we had a technician here from directv.  I fed them a snack and then said "girls get in the bathroom we need to look at your eggs". The technician gave me the strangest look.  I felt the need to explain. We had to candle in the bathroom because it made it easier to see.  I spent quite a lot of time watching videos from various extension services to learn about candeling.
Of the 21 eggs we started with, 11 were good.  We could see the Embryos moving, and they had good veining.  We had 3 "yolkers" which are eggs that were never fertilized, and the rest were failers.  It is critical to get rid of the bad ones so they don't explode inside the incubator.  We are pleased with the progress so far.  We will candle again next week.

  1. I did candling in FFA but I would not remember nothing. That is pretty cool project you are doing.
