All the things

Yesterday was a bit of an adventure.  We started at the district’s end of the year breakfast, where they honored mom for her retirement after 40 years of driving.  They gave her a certificate and a hydrangea.  Now maybe I am a bit of a jerk, I don't know, but it seems to me that maybe 40 years of service could be maybe a plant and a watch?  Or a plaque?  Or something.  But, she is excited to not worry about the weather, not have the stress of keeping people safe, and maybe not getting up at 5 am.  I appreciate her years of work more than she knows - and I am thankful for her being so faithful and present.  Job well done mom!

We have heard small tidbits from Preston.  He sent me some pictures of his trip, but they are sort of random, and I am not exactly sure what we are looking at here.  I hope he took some actual photos of the ocean or something.  Who is the statue?  No clue!  He will be flying home tonight, and then he has to move to Tulsa for his internship.  He said he was planning to run his stuff to Tulsa, and then turn around and help Sunny move to Springfield.  He is hoping to stop by on his way through.  I assume if we want to see either of them this summer, we will be making a trip to either Springfield or Tulsa!  I am proud of them - they are both working really hard to get set up for good careers.  Preston told me he made the Dean's list this semester.

My photos got all jumbled, and I am too lazy to try to fix it.  After I got off work yesterday, I went to the school with Jim to help Mallory move out of her classroom.  She said she needed some help with a couple of pieces of furniture she couldn't fit in her car and asked to use Jim's truck.  When we got there, we realized she was up to her buns in boxes, and was really just wanting to finish.  Madison and the girls were there helping her.  We loaded the big pieces in Jim's truck and sent him to her house to unload them so he could get back to work.  Then we loaded Mallory's car, my car and Madison's car and took all the stuff to Mallory's garage.  We made several trips, and we got it done.  Her garage is a huge mess of boxes, but that seems like a problem she can tackle this summer.  I have to tell you - we worked really hard to get this done - she had a lot of stuff, no complaints, but the point here is that I was so impressed with my granddaughters.  They carried boxes, rolled carts, and helped pack stuff!  Even Wrenley - she was carrying stuff out, rolled her own cart - it was so funny to see how hard she was working.  Several times I figured I would have to help her before we got to the car.  Nope!  She is a determined and strong little thing.  We had a rolling cart - we were loading it and rolling stuff out the side door down a ramp - I made the mistake of letting Wrenley ride the cart back up the ramp.  Then of course, Evie wanted a ride too.  My arms hurt today - I think from dragging their buns up that ramp!  They are heavier than they look!  :)

When we got done at the school, I went home and cleaned my bus so I could turn it in.  I didn't realize how gross that bus was - I am pretty sure I hadn't cleaned the windows at all this year, and there was a lot of dust on everything.  It took way longer than I planned, and I was on a tight schedule so I could have Jim pick me up when he got off work and we could run an errand and still make it to Evelyn's game.  I got it done, but I am sure I looked like a crazy mess when I was done.  No matter, I was just going to the ballpark!  We made it on time and Jim even bought me nachos!
Evelyn played really well.  She got a good hit, got on base and got an RBI!  Her team won the  game!  She was pretty excited.
Wrenley discovered that GG had Band-Aids in her purse.  We all left the game with band aids on, whether we needed them or not!  I am pretty sure GG is going to need to restock her purse!  Wrenley might look like Andrew, but I remember how her mother loved band aids.  She would wear them for weeks!  Needed a band aide for every single time she bumped herself.  I think I even have pictures of her as a flower girl in Brian and Steph's wedding where she has tan lines from a band aid on her forehead!  :)

Mallory took some pictures of Evelyn for her kindergarten "graduation" - and I love them so much!  These girls are absolutely awesome.  They make life so much better!

I was looking at this entire week, and it has been a whirlwind.  We have one more retirement party - for Jim and then we have a few things planned for the weekend.  I was sort of hoping things would slow down for summer.  I guess I am delusional.  Maybe next week?   Probably not...
