First game - movin on to summer

Evie had her first softball game last night.  Mallory and I ran down to watch her.  She did a great job!  She had a couple of hits, but they both went foul.  She paid attention, kept track of her stuff, and did what they told her.  She is awesome!

Wrenley was happy because she had all the snacks!
I am astounded looking at the photos I took - these little nuggets are growing up way, way too fast!

This is the first year (aside from the year that was ruined by the pandemic) that we have not had any kids playing ball at our house.  I think it will feel a little bit empty, and I am not sure what we will do without that insanity going on.  I am glad Evie is playing so we can still get our ballpark nachos, and social time.

While we were watching ball, Jim was attending his last city council meeting.  Last official one as city clerk anyway.  Perhaps I should not say anything about this, but Jim is not the only one who is relieved that city council is a thing of his past.  The days leading up to the meetings were filled with stress of him getting everything ready - packets, numbers, budget, bills, problems, solutions - all neatly packed up for the meeting.  Meeting night - always unreasonably long, rarely went the way he expected, and always managed to fall on a night when we had 1004 other things going on. He usually came home upset or disappointed, sometimes with hilarious stories that he didn't find funny at all, and usually had to decompress afterward.  Yes, it was part of the job.  Yes, I appreciate that the job has been good for our family, but I will absolutely, 100% not miss this part of it.  I do not know what the future holds, but I know that it won't hold council meeting night, and for that I am grateful.
Charging forward into summer, and I couldn't be happier about it! Three more school days, and then we are in the happy zone!
