After the storms we had last night, I suggested that we do a little flood tour this afternoon. I tried to explain the Kansas watershed program to the kids and showed them several examples of flooding. The kids were pretty impressed with the width of some creeks we hadn't really noticed being there before.
After seeing the amount of flooding in the low areas, I am more thankful that Cameron and I made it home last night.
We looked at the Clinton lake spillway and were surprised at how they were not really releasing much water. We talked about them slowing the flow to decrease downstream flooding. Quincy was sort of mad that she didn't have her fishing pole, and Harper was only happy with finding us in Lawrence during Sonic happy hour! Apparently her mother's line of work is not exciting to her!
