everything day

Yesterday was one of those days where without meaning to, you schedule too much stuff, try to take care of everything, and yes, we were successful, but it was a little bit overwhelming!  Maude had her physical and shots.  She now weighs 29 pounds.  She doesn't necessarily like riding in the car.  She whined a little bit, and would not ride in the back seat.....had to sit beside me.  Actually wanted to sit on my lap, but geez she is too big for that.  She is sort of like lifting around a really heavy noodle.  Her body is very long, and she tends to sort of go limp when you try to move her or carry her!  Dr. Sanders says she is healthy, gave her shots and her bravecto - for fleas and ticks.  The other dogs had theirs a few days back, so I wanted to give it to her when we were in the car - so that the other dogs didn't try to steal it from her.  She had to chew it into tiny little pieces, and half of it fell out of her mouth, so then I was scooping little bits and pieces off the car seat and into her mouth.  Doesn't do much good to take meds but leave half laying on the seat! She is a lot of puppy.  She can be a little bit chewey, which is a little bit annoying, but I really think she is a sweet dog and will outgrow some of her habits.  She is also doing a bit better with potty training, but it really takes making sure she is outside as soon as she gets up.  I am not clear on if I am training her, or if she is training me!

There is a guy who travels around trimming goat hooves and giving them their shots/wormer.  I have used his services a few times now and it is a really great service, at a really affordable price.  I called to see if he could come down again.  Last time he was at our house, he told me that he could also trim the pony's feet.  The farrier I had been using had a baby, and I have not gotten back on her list, so I thought it would be easy to just have him trim Coco when he was already at the house.  I got home from work, where Jim and the girls had tied up all the critters for him to work on.  He and his helpers had all the goats done in a short time.  And then we moved on to the pony.  First thing he does is ask me for electricity.  Second thing, he pulls out a sander.  Now I know this can sometimes be done, but Coco has never had  it done before, and I told him that.  He said well we will turn it on and see how he does.  I had the pony tied up (thankfully) and I was at his head end, giving him some bites of grain.  The man lifts a back foot on the pony, and fires up the sander.  Coco did some sort of karate move, and the next thing I see is the man rolling end over end across the yard.  He then jumped up and proclaimed he was ok, but I was scared there for a minute!  Needless to say, the pony got his feet trimmed manually after that.  I felt bad, but 2 things occurred to me about it - 1- if the owner tells you that something has never been done, perhaps you try it from a distance instead of behind the horse?  and 2 - when I was a kid, my dad drilled into us that you never stand directly behind any animal - ever.  For any reason.  If it had been me, and I would have been kicked silly, I am pretty sure my dad would have picked me up and whipped my butt for that.  He should have known better?  Mistakes happen I guess, but I am glad he was ok.  It could have been a very bad day!

Animals being done, we got everything put back into their places, and then the girls helped me clean out the small pen for the baby chickens.  I was so dirty and sweaty that I decided I would just go ahead and jump into the pool and clean it right then!  I might be a true redneck, bathing in the pool!

I had to get cleaned up so that I could go to the ballpark.
Evie and Wrenley got to go the city pool and have a pool day with their aunt.  They had so much fun!

Evie had a game at Overbrook lasts night.  Wrenley was in fine form - conning Poppy into snacks, climbing everything and trying to bite Mallory!

Evie had wanted to play catcher, and she got her chance.  She did great!  I could tell she was a little bit tired because she wasn't moving very fast some of the time!  She tries hard though!

This is a pan of brownies that Cameron made for his manager, who tore his Achilles during their basketball game last week.  The guy has to have surgery and take like 3 months off work.  I hope he sees the humor in this, and Cameron doesn't get fired!  It did make me laugh - I think Cameron and I share a similar sense of humor.
One of these days, I hope I can get on 'regularly scheduled programming' - I am feeling a bit like I haven't been home long enough lately!
