On Thursday, I attended the Kansas dam safety conference. It was at KSU, so it seemed like a win-win for me. . I failed in the getting of photos of important stuff- you know like when I got to hang out with Preston, but I took a few of some random stuff. Despite living in Manhattan for 2 years, and having kids living out there for the last 8 or whatever years, I have zero sense of direction when I am there. Cameron was texting me - he told me there is a cool wildcat sculpture on the north side of the building you are in. I went out the door on my lunch break. Walked to the north side of the building and found nothing. I went back inside - to the other side of the building - to use the restroom. And right out the window (on the actual north side) was the sculpture he was telling me about.
The conference was in the alumni center - a building that was not there when we were students. Across the street from a parking garage - also not there when we were students. Across the street from St. Isadore’s which was there but they have definitely updated and changed that church as well. It was next door to Ahearn, and Memorial Stadium. It was good to see some stuff I recognized! I think the alumni center has actually been there for quite a while, but my kids have all lived on the other side of campus, so I just hadn’t noticed. (Maybe because I am always turned around and concentrating on where I am supposed to be rather than what was new?).
The conference was meh - a couple of the presentations were pretty good, most weren’t. I was happy when it was over and I was able to go have dinner with Preston. We also did a little shopping for a burrito making project I have coming up this week, and picked up a few things for Preston. Did I take any photos of Preston? No. But it was nice to have a couple of hours to hang out with him and I’m glad we got to do it.
Today, Jim and I took off work early, picked up Mallory and went to Wichita to see Colin and Spencer. They had something for me. Gotcha day for Maude. When Colin sent this photo, I told Jim I wondered if Spencer was going to give the dog over easily. Turned out, Spencer wasn’t as hard to get the dog away from as Mallory!
She is the most perfect, sweet, cute baby dog!
We made it home with our new baby. I think Ollie likes her. Blitz is indifferent and Carlos is not happy. As a matter of fact, Carlos is sitting on Jim’s lap, guarding him from this new, evil intruder! I hope that he will come around soon! She is definitely a keeper. Harper, Jim, Saige and I - we are already in love. Thank you Colin and Spencer! We are so excited for this new adventure!
