The photos are scrambled, my mind is jumbled, and my heart is full. This weekend was so much fun. I needed a fun weekend.
Friday night, Saige had a few friends over. I didn’t really get any photos but I think they had fun.
I took the slumber party girls home and got back just in time for lunch and Cameron and Colin arriving.
They decided to spend a day hanging out here, working outside and helping Jim move some of the trees that have been cut but not moved. I’m on record saying that I feel they might have been having a little more fun than we usually do when dragging trees, but they also go so much accomplished. We appreciated their help! It was also really nice to have some time to hang out with them.
The boys went over to hang out with their cousins and Jim and I took Mallory and attended the city’s Christmas party at the bar. Yea it’s a tiny bit late. But it was a fun evening and we enjoyed visiting with everyone.
We have had some changes in our lives recently, as Cameron and Lauren are taking a break. We are sad about it, but we respect their privacy so I won’t say anything more.
Also, Jim has put in his notice of his intent to retire in June from the city. We are happy for him to wrap up there and move on to some new endeavors. What those endeavors will be, we aren’t exactly sure yet. We are working on figuring that out. Jim has worked for the city for over 20 years. He has done some amazing things while working there. He has also had some hard days that leave him feeling overwhelmed. The thing I have always been in awe of is that even when he is frustrated or having a bad day there, he is always kind and respectful to people. And people love him there. I know he will be missed, but it is time. He is ready. I am happy for him, and know that the next chapter will be good.
Today, we attended mass, where we welcomed back father Jo, who had been in India for a few weeks. It was good to have him back. I have missed his silly little homily jokes.
After mass, we had a bridal shower for Spencer and Hannah. Hannah is my nephew Gavin’s fiancé. Their wedding is in about a month. It is a tiny bit longer for Colin and Spencer, but having a joint shower worked out really well. We had a lot of fun, a lot of good food and a nice turn out in a nice spring feeling day. I think it was good for everyone.
Wrenley won a prize. She latched onto a Bassett hound cookie jar. Yea it is glass. Yes I did worry she would smash it. But she wasn’t even letting it go so there was no point in fighting her. Hoping her cookies stay fresh in there!
I was also happy that Spencer’s mom and grandma could join us.
I love these girls. Our family is incredibly blessed to be (officially) adding both of them this year. Great things await!
After the shower, we had Sunday dinner. Andrew and Colin did an amazing job cooking us some grilled food. The girls were happy to play outside. Hope was happy to take off her shoes.
I’m not happy that we have to go back to reality, but such is life I guess.
