Punkin time

Today there was a day off of school.  I had to run to the DMV and for once in my life (and I do mean once) I had every single piece of paper I needed.  I was early for my appointment and they called me right up.  This has never happened.  Ever.  I was so excited.  And then - their computer glitched and they could not print my new license.  Of course.  It did get fixed, and I will be driving the bus legally this week.
When I got done, I had a date with some people for our traditional punkin pickin day.  Cameron and Mallory both had today off, so it worked out awesome.
Jim didn’t want to pick pumpkins, but he did meet me so I didn’t have to go all the way home from Ottawa where I got my license renewed.  Sadly, Quincy had the day off, but had agreed to work at her old job today, so she could not join us. Colin and Spencer, Preston and Sunny all live too far away, but everyone else was headed our way.   The girls and I were early.  I felt a trip to Michael’s to see what they had on the 50% off Halloween and fall decor sale was warranted.  We found some amazing crafts for our Halloween party night!   Cameron met us there.  Yesterday, he told me he needed a welcome mat, as everyone else on his floor had one.  They had light up Halloween mats half off!   Score!

We had a little lunch and then hit the patch.  My photos are again out of order, but I think it is fairly self explanatory.
I love going to the pumpkin patch.  I grew up in 4-H with the people who own Shaake’s in Lawrence. It is always fun to see them, even if only for a few minutes once a year.  And I will always love supporting a small family business.  Although it doesn’t seem to be small any more!   There were quite a few people there today, but not near as many as when we go on a weekend!  They have expanded to have apple cider slushes, and kettle corn, and lots of cool things in their gift shop.
It was a great day!   Everyone got a pumpkin and cider slush  (thank you GG)!  We enjoyed watching the girls play and just having an afternoon to hang out together.  I enjoyed it immensely.
Of course, on the way home we had to get our traditional pumpkin patch dinner - the pepperoni jack-o’-lantern pizza from Papa Murphy’s.  Somehow, o think because we ate lunch kind of early, and it had turned off cloudy and rainy, I came right home and cooked dinner.  As I was serving it, I realized it was 4:30 pm.  Ok so that was sort of unnecessary, but we rolled with it and now we are all fed and ready for bed at 7:30!   Will we go to bed early?  It’s a crazy fest around here!

Cameron’s new mat and his pumpkin look nice- but I am convinced he needs a wreath for his door.  Luckily for him, I bought some supplies last year and never finished the wreaths I intended to make (due to having shoulder surgery- not because I am a crazy craft supply hoarder).

I can’t even fathom how we blew a 3 day weekend and have to go back to work/school already but it looks like that is the case.  I did have some fun.  I did accomplish a few of the things I wanted to get done.  And I did get a little down time.  All things that were necessary.

New week. New things to do.
