Part of what I love about Sunday is running the girls ragged. Or they run me ragged. Whatever. Today I thought geez they are young, I should get them to help me pick up walnuts. And they did! We picked up a lot! Wrenley was upset because she could see more in the tree, and wanted me to get them for her. The tree is way above my head. We will just have to wait for them to fall!
We have a lot of walnut trees here. And they throw walnuts all over the yard. They are a tripping hazard. Last week we gave a bunch away. This week, I think I am going to drag them over to a guy who buys black walnuts. He lives near the lady in Scranton who sells fresh milk and vegetables. I was sort of thinking I could also make a trip by her farm when I am over there. At the very least, I need to take her milk jar back. At the very best, I could use the walnut money to buy some cool stuff that I “need” from her little produce store.
Either way, if we give the walnuts away, or if I sell them , the girls were very helpful, and I appreciate the nuts not being in the areas I walk in the dark!
It might be a violation of child labor law, but they work for fudge bars and hugs. They are awesome!
They also bring a level of chaos into the house that I miss from having kids around. The toys everywhere, the couch pillows and cushions strewn everywhere. Snacks needed, chocolate milk needed, crazy conversations everywhere. I need the reminder of more carefree times in life. Of being able to have fun where you are with what is available. Kids are awesome like that.
Sunday is my favorite day. Until you’re smacked into the fact that the weekend is over and back to reality I go.
