No cancellations

Last weekend, everything was cancelled.  This weekend, not so much.  

Saige had 2 soccer games today. They won the first one and lost the second.  They played well and although it was cold, Saige had a new hat and gloves and we heard zero complaints from her!  

This evening, we had a work day at the fairgrounds for 48 hours of 4-H.   We also had our fall party.  The kids had a wonderful time!  It was pretty cold out by the time we got done.  I was happy to come home and sit under a fleece blanket. We did turn on our furnace....seems way too early for that!  

Long short week

We had a “short” week with Monday being a holiday. However, by today, the week felt extremely long!   I could have usd a Friday a few days ago!  I am exceedingly happy to see the weekend!   This was a week of meetings.  Township, watershed board,  city council, court etc.  I am glad for the reminder of God’s promise.  I always think of it  as a promise of survival. We will get through, we will persevere.  

When I take the kids to the dentist, I always make another appointment for 6 months out.  No matter what day I pick, the appointments always fall during the craziest times.  I did enjoy a morning off with my girls though!   The only sad part was we couldn’t make it an entire day!   Good news - no cavities!  

Saige is having the best time with Mrs. Kraus.  We love her!  She was excited to show me the pictures they posted of the class playing subtraction bingo!  

Thursday, Preston and Quincy had their final football games against Prairie View.  Both teams won. It was a great way to end the season.  Quincy started basketball practice today.  No rest for the wicked....but at least we can sit inside now right?  

A weekend of cancellations

This was supposed to be a very busy weekend here at our casa.  However, due to rain almost everything we had going on was cancelled.  Sometimes I worry about how to get stuff covered, make arrangements, and figure out strategies, only to reflect and realize that it was all for not.  

I had agreed to drive varsity volleyball to Council Grove.  I admit to being excited about this because I like watching volleyball, and because a good friend’s daughter plays so it was a day to hang out with her!   I did enjoy the day! 

My driving was supposed to have left Jim with getting Preston and Quincy to work, and covering soccer for Saige.  Preston and Quincy’s boss got sick and apparently the soccer fields were too wet.  So all the planning and snack buying was unnecessary.  The kids got a comfortable, relaxing day home with dad instead!  Cameron also came home for a while to see everyone.  I was very sorry I missed him, but was able to face time with him today so we got sort of caught up.  

We were all pretty bummed about the demolition derby being cancelled. Colin obviously has put a lot of time (and money) into this project and really had been looking forward to it.  The little girls are rednecks like their mom, and we love a derby!   I think Jim might have been excited about the beast being relocated. We are hoping they reschedule!  

It was another rainy, cold, overly wet day today.  We enjoyed a short visit after church from Colin and Spencer.  We have not accomplished as much today as I had hoped, but sometimes it feels good to just be.  

Whatnot

We had one of those weeks.   The kind that every waking moment was spent running somewhere.  Quincy played in a b team game against Osage city on Tuesday.  She had a great game!   We are very proud of her efforts this season.

Preston and Quincy both had games on Thursday.  Both teams beat Washburn rural.  It was a fun night of football, although the little girls and I missed Quincy playing due to the great escape of all the chickens.  Harper was a great help in catching them!  

On Wednesday night, we had RE and as we drove by the bank, I happened to notice it was 90 degrees.  At the games on Thursday, it was 55.  We weren’t quite ready for that change in temperature and the girls thought they might freeze!  

Today was picnic on the playground day at Overbrook school.  We had an amazing time eating with Harper, Saige and Clayton.  They mixed things up a little this year and just blocked off 2 hours.  You could have your picnic, make crafts, play book bingo, and play outside.  It was a great day!  The girls were also happy because the school had earned a “bucket filler” party and they spent the rest of the afternoon watching a movie and eating popcorn.  Seems like the perfect ending to an insane week!  

New member

This little chick has been ready to join 4-H for about 3 years now.  She was pretty happy to finally be allowed to!   Her first meeting was an exchange meeting at the fair grounds. The club served s’mores and hot chocolate so she was all about it.  

Harper had to sit through Saige’s soccer practice before 4-H last night.  At one point she asked for my phone.  She took a lot of pictures of the fairy house she built!   I guess she wanted me to see it from every single angle.
