Colin wrestled at sub-districts on Saturday. He had a pretty great day on the mats! He got 5th place, unfortunately, only the top 4 get to move on to districts next weekend. We are super proud of Colin, he wrestled great! I figure if you have the intestinal fortitude to get out there and put everything on the line, you definitely deserve my respect! I do like wrestling, and had a lot of fun watching him! He even beat a kid who I thought was pretty cocky, so that always makes my day!
Saige was a very, very good girl all during the tournament!
While we were at the tournament, Mallory and Madison watched the little ones (except for Saige) to save them from a long, grueling day! Cameron's bee mentor came and picked him up so they could relocate some bees from a place where they were a public menace, to Cameron's hive. Because we know how Cam reacted last time to a bee sting, I dug out the epi-pen and forced him to take it along. Luckily, the bee re-location project went off without a hitch, and nobody got stung. After we got home, Cameron was telling me about the bees, how they moved the wild hive, and he is excited to be starting over. Apparently, the mentor thinks that his bees froze to death. As he is telling me the story he suddenly starts yelling OUCH OUCH OUCH OH MY HELP ME! He had been messing with the epi-pen and it went off and went all the way through his thumb, in through the pad and out through his thumbnail. He was in some massive pain! I managed to get the epi-pen pulled back out, and yelled for Jim. We had no idea how much medicine went into his thumb, and we didn't really know what happens if you take an epi-pen when you are not having a reaction. Jim googled it, and, of course found the worst case scenario right away! It said he was in danger of losing his thumb! I tried to call our neighbor who is a nurse, but she was not home. Meanwhile, Jim threw Cam into the van and took him to visit our friends at St. Francis ER! We hadn't been there for a while! They monitored Cam's vital signs to make sure he didn't have any reaction to the epi-pen, and looked at his thumb. They thought it was good that the needle went clear through, that it actually helped the situation. Long story short, he has a really, really sore thumb, but is going to make a full recovery AND keep his thumb.
Today, we were again up before the sun (which was really easy with the dang time change) for Colin to go to Lindsburg for Middle School State Wrestling. Jim went to watch, while I took the other kids to early mass and then to Wal-mart. Jim reported to me that Colin did a tremendous job wrestling today, he won 2, and then lost 2. Since it was double illumination, he was done. He really did a great job! He is now done wrestling for this year. We are very proud.
We will be using this week to try to recover from all the running, time change, and overload of stuff!
I can not believe that happened to Cam!! I can just imagine his pain and your panic. Oh boy!!!
