catch up posts

Catch up posts seem to be the norm for me lately.  Last week was a crazy week and although I took a lot of pictures,  I never made the time to save them on here.  I don't really know what happened to the week, it was gone in a hurry.  Quincy played in 2 games last week.  They had a "b" team game at Osage City.  She played really well, and got a lot of playing time in.  She continues to work hard and is having a lot of fun I think.  

Her team got their rumps kicked by Osage, but there was the most beautiful sunset that evening.  Harper took pictures.  

Thursday night, Quincy's team traveled to Iola.  I drove the bus and was so happy with what felt like one of those beautiful fall days.  Sunshine and 80 degrees of perfect weather.  Her team did win on Thursday and she had some great plays that night as well.  My personal opinion is that Iola is too far to travel, and I am thankful I got paid to go!  :)  

Friday, Evie was in a great mood.  I am sure she knows what day it is and looks forward to the weekend.  I was getting a lot done, and turned on the radio while I worked.  She was playing and being good when I started singing to her.  That was a big mistake on my part!  The faces she makes crack me up.  If this kid never talks, I have no doubt we will still be able to tell what she is thinking!  

Friday evening, we had been warned of the possibility of severe weather.  They moved the football game ahead an hour and got it rolling.  I would normally have been happy to stay home on such an evening, but Preston was playing in the band.  Jim and I went out with him to watch his performance.  At halftime, the high school team was getting creamed.  The halftime show was awesome though!  They marched and played "House of the Rising Sun" one of my favs!   I love watching them!  Preston did great!  

Andrew and Madison had gone to Topeka, and Jim, Preston and I were going to the game.  The little girls didn't want to go, and Quincy had stayed home Friday not feeling well.  Quincy said she would watch the girls and they could just all sit around and watch a movie.  We agreed to this and told her to keep an eye on the weather as well.  Right after halftime, the sky lit up with a huge bolt of lightening, causing us to get off the metal bleachers!  The game went into a lightening delay, but the band director said the band kids could go ahead and leave.  As we are heading home, Mallory texted to see if we wanted some caramel ice cream sauce she made.  We said sure, and decided to stop for ice cream as well.  As we are at Mallory's house, the tornado sirens start going off and she gets several weather alerts on her phone.  My cousin also texted me to say that the radar put a tornado right about where we live, and that I should probably go to the basement.  I tried to call Quincy about 35 times and she didn't answer.  I texted her several times and nothing.  I was not feeling too excited about the weather.

We managed to dodge the tornados and even most of the rain and made it home to find that Quincy had gotten a notice on her phone, and she had  paid attention to it.  She had both of the little girls, the parrot, the dogs, the cats and the hedgehog all taking cover in the basement.  They were only upset because the black kitten wouldn't stay downstairs with them!  She did leave her phone upstairs, which is why she wasn't answering.  I am very happy that they were safe!  

My brother's neighbor lost some barns in the mess, but luckily not his house.  I am always thankful when it passes us by!  

The crappy weather stuck around long enough that most of the stuff we had going on this weekend was postponed.  Logical me knows this is just pushing more stuff onto another weekend which will make it even busier.  Exhausted from the last week me was happy about having a little time to get caught up at home!
