First games

Harper and Saige had their first games tonight. (Finally- we already have several rescheduled due to rain).  They were happy and excited to be back on the field.

Saige’s team played at Burlingame.  They had a good game.

Harper’s team played at Harveyville.  Since these towns are literally 15 minutes apart, and since one played the early game and one played the late game, we were able to catch most of both games.  That’s always a bonus!

Saige decided that she wanted to pitch this year.  She has been practicing and was given an opportunity to try her arm tonight.  She pitched the first 3 innings.  She really surprised me - I know she has been practicing but it’s been so wet and rainy that she has been practicing pitching squishmellows and small stuffed animals into the back of the couch.  She did a pretty good job despite having to utilize a ball!!  She had several strike outs and she had several kids hit off of her.  She did a great job fielding the ball and made several outs at first.  I was very proud of her efforts.

She wasn’t as successful at batting, but Quincy is planning to help her with some tips and practice  tomorrow.
Saige also played a little 3rd.   Her team lost by 2, but they looked pretty good considering how many practices they had to cancel this spring.

When I got to Harper’s game, she was playing 3rd.  She also played a little at right and left field.  Her coach knows she pitched last year, however she told him she doesn’t want to pitch this year.  She had some great at bats and scored one of their runs.  The Harveyville/Eskridge team is really good.  Harper’s team did a decent job against them, but didn’t get the win.  It was a fun game to watch.  I’m just going to say that I thought the uniforms the girls picked out look awesome.  The team is the electric tuna fish- and they were very electric looking.  I should be able to find her team at the games with no effort!
