Today I knew Jim would want to go fishing. We had scouted out the best places last night. Colin lives about an hour from here and he was planning to drive over for a while. I told the boys they could fish all afternoon, but they had to tour a flour mill and see Coronado heights in Lindsborg first!
The Smokey Valley roller mill was awesome. My boys indulged me and walked through every floor and the additional buildings and watched the video and even posed for pictures.
They also patiently went to Coronado Heights and posed for more pictures and then took me out for lunch.
I have never been to Lindsborg before, and I really liked it. The Swedish accents everywhere are amazing, it’s a cute little town and I just had a really good morning!
Since the boys were so good, we then went back to the lake and they fished. A lot. Starting at the spillway, where Colin caught quite a few white bass and a drum. Jim only caught one.
Then we moved on to the sandy beach area of the lake where they fished and I read a book until my phone died! I took a walk along the shoreline, and we saw a bald eagle. They fished a lot! And then Colin decided to go on to Manhattan where Cameron was visiting Preston for his birthday. Colin wasn’t gone more than 5 minutes when the white bass started hitting. Jim was juggling lines and yanking in fish. And smiling like a big goof. It was a fun thing to witness.
It was a very relaxing afternoon. Some times you just need to put a chair in the sand and sit by the water.
I’m glad Colin was able to come over. It was great to spend a day with him. This is a quiet part of the world, I am enjoying it.
