We left our cabin with the intention of making one final stop, and then heading toward Manhattan to have birthday lunch with Preston and Sunny. The final stop- Mushroom Rock State Park. These are the same rocks as what are in the Rock City park, except they are worn down and shaped like mushrooms. This is a very small park, and I happened to notice there were more of the rocks off in the pastures with the cows grazing around them. Jim looked up some information about how they are formed, and read it to me as we traveled towards Manhattan. We saw several more examples in the pastures along the way.
We arrived in Manhattan at lunch time, and met Preston and Sunny- but they were limited on time because Preston had to go back to work. I felt bad because I neglected to get any birthday photos, and I intended to take him shopping for gifts and a cake, but he just didn’t have time today. I did a Walmart pick up instead. I hope his birthday was fun - he spent it with Colin and Cameron….it sounded like a good time.
I was happy to get to spend a little bit of time with them, even though it didn’t go quite like I planned. Always nice to get a chance to visit with the kids. Jim and I managed to get home, get unpacked and laundry going so we can return to reality bright and early tomorrow. I’m sad the weekend went so fast, but so happy we made the time to go. I am incredibly fortunate to have married my best friend.
I am also happy that the girls kept everything done, including taking care of my little project cat, and the rabbits having babies. They also cleaned up the house! Such good people.
