Saige Grace is officially 5 years old! She had a month long count down and a list of expectations for how we should handle her special day! I am not sure if we managed everything on the list, but she had a good day! She is a great little girl. She is funny, dramatic, and opinionated. We are so blessed to have her as a daughter!
Happy birthday Saige! We love you!

Madison actually had a day off, and she made her a 5 year old dream candy cake! Hello sugar high! She asked if she could please have a second birthday tomorrow!

Weekend....where did you go?

It has been a very crazy weekend. One of the downfalls of weekends is that they are only 2 days long.
Quincy had a basketball game, but Jim took her and I didn't get any photos!

My friend Grace came down on Friday. She and I don't get to spend nearly enough time together, and what time we do have always goes by too fast! I am very blessed to count her among my friends. And as friends go, she is one who truly doesn't mind being put to work! She helped me make the cheesy potatoes and beans for the musical dinner. Her help was appreciated (and also crucial for me getting finished in time.). We did have some time to visit and I am hoping to make it to see her very soon! I meant to take a picture of us together because I figure the world really does need more Grace and Hope. I forgot. Luckily, Grace doesn't throw things away and unearthed this gem!

After 4 years of Brookside, this weekend Madison started a new job. She is now in the bakery department at Sprouts grocery store! She is excited about the change, but was sort of disappointed that she won't be getting to bake all sorts of confections, as they have a set bunch of stuff that she will be making every day.

We spent 3 days attending Cameron's musical performances. They were all really good and it was truly a fun show. Today, I even got to be one of the audience participants. That was exciting. ;)

We had Saige's birthday party this evening. This did nothing to calm the birthday countdown and super excitement she has had for the past month! She has been telling us for days exactly how we are to react to her special day!

Spelling Bee

Cameron is in the high school musical this weekend. They had their first performance this evening. It was really funny, and I thought the kids did a pretty good job! I am very proud of Cameron for breaking out and trying a new endeavor. The musical is "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." I had never heard of it before, but I was pleasantly surprised by the wittiness.

First college meet

Colin had his first official college wrestling meet today. It was at Baker University in Baldwin, so we all got to go watch him! He didn't win any of his matches today, but he really did wrestle well. We couldn't be prouder of the work and effort he is putting in!

The nothingness is scary

I got this photo from Saige's teacher. She captioned it "the day after Halloween is tough." It cracked me up because honestly, this week has been a rough one on everyone it seems.

This week, I realized that it had been 3-4 years since I had a professional hair cut. As is common for my mind, once I had the idea in my head, I couldn't get it to leave. Time is a real issue for getting in for an appointment and so, when I realized the barber across the street was just sitting, I walked on in. I don't think women's hair is something he does often. He gave me a good cut, but it wasn't exactly the cut I had in mind. I thought about it all day, and then as I was laying in bed last night, I thought to myself "I have a hair license, I can fix it myself!" And I got up out of bed and wacked around on my hair. I am fairly pleased with our combined result! It feels immensely better!

Nobody except for Cameron had any (known) plans for this evening. I was terrified that we had forgotten something because we are rarely home! No phone calls or texts came in asking where we were! I enjoyed cooking a nice dinner and hanging out with the kids.

I also enjoyed hanging out with the girls. They are back from the breeder. Jim picked them up last night while we were at RE. Totes was extremely happy to see us, and Curley already broke into the chicken pen! Good to have them back!

I am anxiously waiting for baby goat season!

Cameron got to meet with Governor Brownback last week. I am not amused by the governor, but I am pretty proud of my kid, who seizes every opportunity he is given. This group of kids will lead the country someday, and they will do a good job I believe!
