Fair time!

Yesterday was the first day of the county fair.   Check in day and goat show night.   I’m noticing that my check-ins are a whole lot less work than they used to be!   The kids truly worked hard and mostly did their own setting up!
The fairboard served a very nice lunch!  Aunt Amy made sure we got the goods!

We had a rough goat year!  Harper’s goat died.   The others battled parasites and slow growing.   None of the goats made weight for the auction.   The kids were bummed.  They have to weigh 50 pounds.  Preston’s weighed 44 and Quincy’s weighed 45.   So close!   Saige showed hers in the breeding class.  We will be bringing them all home!   Jim thinks it’s ok- he has some brush he would like to get them to clear before we sell them!  (Translation- Jim has gotten attached to this batch of goats and thinks they should be pets!).

Saige, Quincy and Evelyn entered some foods.  Saige went to consultation judging.  She had cupcakes, and 2 kinds of cookies.  She got blues on all of her entries, however she thought the judge was a little too judgy!   Evelyn’s cupcakes got a blue, as did Quincy’s apple pie.

The kids did a good job showing in showmanship, the breeding class, and the underweight class.   I am proud of them for all their work!

It was also so good to see Cameron and Lauren who drove over to watch!  They had a very nice fan club there last night!
