What this weekend was not - - relaxing, a time for resting and rejuvenating.
What this weekend was - a lot of fun. A time to see almost all the kids. A lot better than the previous few weekends!
We started out our weekend bright and early at a wrestling tournament for Quincy at Silver Lake. Quincy had a little bit of a rough start. She wrestled a girl in her first match who she has beat previously. She started out the match up 8-0 and ended up getting pinned. It did not set the tone for a good day, but she did end up rallying around and placing 3rd. Colin came down to watch her, and I had a nice time visiting with him between her matches.
After wrestling, Cameron and Lauren came down to hang out with Colin. The girls had planned to go to Los Vaqueros for dinner, and invited everyone to join them. Quincy had to work, and managed to get us a big table. It was nice to have almost all of the kids in one place - although Spencer was busy this weekend, and Quincy was there, but working. I enjoyed the food and the company! Quincy got them to sing happy birthday to the girls and they wore the sombreros. It made Evelyn really happy to see her mom in the birthday hat! :)
Since we played all day on Saturday, we had to work on Sunday to get caught up. The last couple weekends of being sick really took a toll on our house, and we were far behind. Colin had to leave pretty quickly after church, as he had to work yesterday afternoon. The little girls and I managed to get the house cleaned up, Jim covered basketball practice duty, and we made side dishes for Sunday dinner. Madison and Andrew made a ham, and we had cake for the girl's birthday. I am happy to be back to running and Sunday dinner, the normalcy of it made me extremely happy!
I think Preston was also happy to go back to work at the vineyard, after several weeks of not working there due to us being sick and not wanting to spread our germs! Preston did have some sort of accident and blew a hole in his favorite sweatshirt though. Luckily, he was not hurt! He is also rather unhappy with me over the haircut I gave him. It looks very nice, but if your hair has not been cut for months on end, any haircut is going to feel "too short!"
