The kids have a 4 day weekend off school. We decided we were going to take a little girl’s trip to Louisiana to visit Cameron and Lauren. Our original plan was to take Thursday off school, head out early, and make one very long drive. But the weather in Kansas is always a little bipolar this time of year. It was 60 earlier this week, and now they are predicting a pretty bad snow storm. Since we were already taking tomorrow off, and since the storm was coming from the west, we decided to leave a little early and head south, out of the path of the storm. We aimed for Tulsa.
First goal of the trip met. We arrived in Tulsa rather late. Quincy booked us a hotel along the way. Suffice it to say that we are probably not in the best part of town, and the homeless people sleeping in the stairwell was a good indicator, even if we hadn’t already figured it out on our own. We will be waiting for the sun to come out before we check out. The room is clean, and we did check for bedbugs and found none. I’m too tired to care. The trip was safe, we avoided winter weather, and I’m just happy to have a place to sleep and shower. Tomorrow we will have a nicer place to stay!
