Yesterday was day 3 of hanging at the county fair. Day 3 was pet show day for Saige and Evie. Jim and I also decided day 3 was eat at the bar day because we are tired of sandwiches and lunchables from the cooler! We were happy Mallory, Madison and the girls could join us for lunch! We notice little missy is starting to get some baby rolls. It made us happy! Love this little peanut!
After lunch, it was off to the pet show. Carlos was u happy because we had locked him in my office while we ate lunch (which was actually nice of us because he was in the air conditioning that way). The minute we got to the fairgrounds, he somehow slipped out of his harness amd took off! Rotten little dog! Saige chased him down, and then we were ready!
Saige showed Carlos, our kitten Kitt-an purple nurple Simear, and one of the baby rabbits that is not marked correctly for showing in the rabbit show.
Side note, we borrowed a cat carrier from Amy. The kitten was absolutely yowling! Finally, I put her in with the baby rabbits. She laid right down and was quiet the rest of the time we were there! Weird cat.
Evie showed her little bunny. She picked it out, but it is also not show quality, although if you truly look at this one you will see she has a really nice body type, is extremely correct in all the ways except for white ticking in her black fur. We will be keeping her and try to breed her for better fur quality. She is also a sweet little girl, which makes it so much more enjoyable than dealing with her mother rabbit who is a verbal growler and a pretty large complainer.
Both the girls did a really good job. Evie had to wait through all the 4-H kids for the open class and it was a very long wait! I was proud of her, it was hot and we are all sort of tired so waiting was not that easy! Evie told the judge she feeds her rabbit 16 times a day, and that she feeds her dog peanut butter so she will shut up! She’s hilarious. Evie got a blue ribbon!
Saige got a purple (champion) on Carlos, a blue on her cat, and grand champion overall for her rabbit presentation. The judge said she did a great job explaining that her rabbit was not show quality and why, and also knew all about the care for it, answered all the questions correctly and gave an impressive presentation.
I am proud of my girls! They rock at pet show presentations!
