It has been a fun but weird day here. We woke up to pouring rain. It poured a good portion of the day. The boys still did some fishing, during the lulls in the rain. These pictures are from last night when Andrew took the kids out on the boat. They are too cute not to save!
Since it was raining, we did some nerdy mom activities. Onyx cave was top of the list. Harper told me it isn’t a vacation unless I drag them to some cave. She did tell me she liked it though. The drive there was fairly sketchy. Every time we made a turn the roads got narrower, more winding, and steeper. It was a beautiful drive, but also sort of terrifying. At one point, we came across the Golden Gate Bridge of the Ozarks. I was not amused at all. I didn’t want to drive across it. It took a couple minutes of deep breathing exercises, but we made it. Harper gets photo creds - I was too busy hyperventilating to think about taking a picture.
Caves are always so cool. I very much enjoyed this one!
We have been promising Evelyn that we would go on the Eureka Springs Excursion Train. It is a one hour ride on a 1920’s era steam train. Mom nerd was extremely excited about this. We purchased tickets and were there in plenty of time. We waited and it started to rain. And then it was like the sky opened up and it absolutely poured. They brought the train up, told us the history and some stories and we waited to load up. Finally, they let us get on and sit down - and then promptly announced that the tracks were flooded and it was not safe to go, so they cancelled the ride. Evie was very sad. Grammy was very sad. I am happy that we at least got to go inside of the train though. Not much we can do about the weather! We got extremely wet going to the cars!
Since we were already in Eureka Springs, I also made us go look at Christ of the Ozarks. It was only lightly sprinkling while we were there, and honesty, it is a cool statue but there isn’t too much to actually see. We did all laugh at Evelyn calling it “big A$$ Jesus!”
Since it was still raining, we decided to go to Walmart and get stuff to have a bbq dinner. Andrew grilled steaks, GG, Madison and Mallory made side dishes. We all had a fun evening of sitting around answering trivia questions and visiting.
